Canoo, con la guida autonoma nel DNA

At the Formula E Diriyadh E-Prix, we got a close look at the Canoo, an original Californian project that is now moving to Arkansas and setting up a production plant in Oklahoma City.

The car is not yet homologated and homologation is expected between the first and second quarters of 2023.

The USA is the first market, but the company is studying together with GCC Olayan of Saudi Arabia a distribution in the Kingdom that could become a reality at the end of 2023 or early 2024. The Middle East market will be considered in a second phase.

Canoo, con la guida autonoma nel DNAThe project has been underway for four years and there are three versions, a delivery van, a passenger version and the third is the pick-up, while there will be a fourth with a long wheelbase.

The Pick-up version can be 2WD (rear-wheel drive) or equipped with 4WD all-wheel drive.

The peculiarity of the Canoo project is that the company has begun to design the skateboard on which the cars are built, with brake-by-wire systems with advanced technology for autonomous driving and steer-by-wire systems.

Canoo already has contracts with NASA to supply vehicles for the next summer 2023 mission to transport astronauts, with Walmart for several deliveries hubs in the USA, agreements with the US Army to test the scout pick ups, with a special set-up that provides for the use of two engines and 700 HP of power.
