Solar and electric boats raceshave taken place since the end of the 80’s of the last Century. These competitions are held in closed circuits – mostly lakes and rivers – and involve boats equipped with electric propulsion systems (electric boats). Concerning solar boats, the own production of energy comes from solar photovoltaic panels added on the same boat. As the Solar Car Races, most teams belong to Universities and Technical Institutes, with students working on the whole project, from the same hull, to the final setup of electronic systems, batteries and solar panels.
