On the first day of school of Season 10, Electric Motor News’ Orecchio Lungo (Long Ear) heard that Yamaha, Lola and Toyota would be interested in Formula E.
As a matter of fact, we are able to say that in Mexico City there are Yamaha envoys who have arrived directly from Japan, on a more or less secret mission.
According to our information, the plan would be to enter Formula E with a new team, yet to be understood whether through the purchase of a license from someone who is currently in difficulty or whether Formula E will increase the number of teams admitted.
Yamaha R&D would be working together with Lola, the renowned English chassis company that currently works in smaller and quieter categories, and would like to revive the laurels of the old days and bring the brand back to a high level.
So the hypothesis would be a Lola-Yamaha team, where the English would take care of everything related to the chassis and team itself, while the Japanese would take care of the powertrain.
But the question arises spontaneously because a very important name is missing from this panorama: where does Toyota fit in?
Also according to the Orecchio Lungo (Long Ear) of Electric Motor News, the Japanese company, world leader in the hybrid sector, has a plan to support Yamaha in the development of the powertrain, in order to be involved in Formula E in disguise.
All this while in a few months we are going to race in Tokyo for the first time and Electric Motor News has learned that the Tokyo race will be very important for the next development of Formula E, but we didn’t understand what type of development from the our interlocutor, even if we think it is the entry of a new stockholder into the corporate structure.
Other very reliable and confidential sources told Electric Motor News that on January 22nd, before the Diriyah E-Prix, Formula E will make a very important announcement… but the person who said it stopped only at this sentence with the smile of someone who knows they have only told part of the film’s plot but without spoiling the ending…
