The FIA Formula E team Dragon Racing confirmed José María López as a driver for Season 5 of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.
The three-time World Touring Car Drivers’ Champion and multiple Formula E podium finisher will pilot the next generation Penske EV-3, heralding in a new era for the all-electric series.
Pechito has spent the off-season training and working closely with the team at Penske Autosport to develop Dragon’s challenger for the first season with the new Gen 2 chassis.
The Argentinian said:
I am really excited to continue with the team and I am looking forward to being on the track to achieve our objectives.
Pechito added that: [he] loves Dragon’s passion for motor racing and the team’s relentless will to keep improving. He added that “the atmosphere is great! The team has evolved so much since I joined last year, and now we have the new Gen 2 car, so we are starting fresh, and I can’t wait to be on track with the team for the first race in Riyadh.
When asked about his thoughts for Season 5, and the new Penske EV-3, Pechito said:
expectations are to be competitive from the start to achieve top spot results. The team has put in an incredible effort during this, and I am looking forward to working with them to keep improving and evolving throughout the season.
