LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company) reached a major milestone of 7,000 global sales of its world-famous most advanced electric taxi.

Since launching in 2018, the TX has provided sustainable transport to both owners and passengers in more than 20 countries worldwide, from Paris to Cairo and Madrid to Tokyo. Over the last four years, the  TX has travelled more than 418 million miles and prevented 127 million tonnes of CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere.

LEVC ha raggiunto il traguardo di 7000 vendite globali di taxi elettriciLondon, the home of the iconic black taxi, remains TX’s biggest market, with 5,000 of the 7,000 TXs now operating on the capital’s streets – more than a third of London’s entire black taxi fleet – having rapidly become a cornerstone of the city’s modern identity.

In recognition of this sales milestone, as well as the Platinum Jubilee which marks 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s monarchy, three special ‘celebration’ TX cabs will operate in London over the coming week, each kitted out with a unique exterior and a traditional British street party interior.

Joerg Hofmann, CEO of LEVC, commented:

LEVC is proud to have sold 7,000 electric TX taxis across the globe. The iconic black cab can now be seen from Paris to Madrid and Cairo to Tokyo; it truly is a vehicle for everyone, everywhere.

The black cab has been a familiar sight on city streets for more than a hundred years and today’s TX has never been more fit for purpose. Offering unrivalled accessibility, capable of zero emissions  and eliminating range anxiety, the TX is the ideal choice for both cab-drivers and passengers in any city.

Featuring flexible space for up to six passengers, the vehicle includes an integrated wheelchair ramp and a swivel seat, enabling the TX to accommodate a forward-facing wheelchair – the only taxi of its kind to do so. The TX’s eCity technology provides a pure EV range of more than 64 miles (103 km) and a total range-extended capacity of 318 miles (512 km).

Parent company Geely has invested more than £500 million in LEVC, creating a state-of-the-art R&D centre and factory in Ansty, Coventry, where all the TXs are built.
