On January 18, BYD organized an event at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah in Jakarta, to introduce Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal pure electric models.
The event was attended by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
Minister Luhut expressed gratitude for BYD’s contribution to accelerating Indonesia’s electrification efforts. He praised the event, stating,
Today’s launch of the BYD brand and products will make big cities like Jakarta cleaner and healthier, driving the enhancement of Indonesia’s ecosystem and the development of the electric vehicle industry.
Minister Airlangga shared plans for BYD’s future investment in building production sites in Indonesia via video speech. He noted that BYD’s arrival would provide Indonesian consumers with more new energy vehicle options, increasing the popularity of electric vehicles in the country.
Liu Xueliang, General Manager of BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division, said in his speech:
We are fully aware of Indonesia’s growing demand for new energy products and sustainable transportation. We believe that Indonesia will soon see the widespread adoption of new energy vehicles.
The event featured several BYD technology experience zones, showcasing innovations like the e-Platform 3.0, Blade Battery, CTB (cell-to-body) integration technology, and V2L in-vehicle discharge technology.
To demonstrate the performance of BYD’s new energy vehicles, the brand launch not only detailed the brand and technology but also included test drives of the three models. The test drive route spanned 2.8 kilometers through the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, allowing guests to appreciate the diverse cultural features of Indonesia’s 33 provinces while experiencing the outstanding performance of the new vehicles firsthand.
Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, stated:
Since 2018, BYD commercial vehicles have been put into public transportation services in several key cities in Indonesia. Today marks a new beginning for BYD’s green journey in Indonesia. We plan to open 50 stores nationwide along with our partners. Additionally, BYD will begin construction plans for production sites in Indonesia later this year, committing to building and developing an electric vehicle ecosystem and injecting new vitality into Indonesia with high-end products and excellent service.
