Sealence confirms the “SafeLi Giga Factory” project

Sealence conferma il progetto “SafeLi Giga Factory”

As anticipated by Electric Motor News on June 27th (read here), Sealence SpA confirms the existence of the “SafeLi Giga Factory” project.

The project involves the establishment of a facility for large-scale production of the SafeLi battery, in response to the needs outlined in its own industrial plan and to fulfill significant multi-year orders the company is currently discussing with several clients.

This project is an integral part of the Sealence industrial plan, that decided to confirm the existence of the project following the leaks circulating in the media after the recent Electric&Hybrid Marine Expo in Amsterdam, in order to ensure accurate and comprehensive information.

The product

Sealence conferma il progetto “SafeLi Giga Factory”The first product to be manufactured at the facility will be the 83 kWh SafeLi lithium battery, which is already in production at the pilot plant in Parma.

The SafeLi battery stands out for its high discharge power of 240 kW and its ability to be charged to 80% at fastcharger points in just 12 minutes.

Its high energy and volumetric density, defining it as best-in-class, allow it to have a weight of only 550 kg.

SafeLi batteries are “heavy-duty,” suitable for all applications where high performance must be guaranteed over long periods and under continuous stress conditions.

In addition to its technical characteristics, SafeLi is a fireproof battery, achieving the highest levels of safety and certification currently possible.

From 2025, other new batteries are expected to be introduced, further improving the aforementioned performance.

The SafeLi Giga Factory

Sealence conferma il progetto “SafeLi Giga Factory”Regarding the production of SafeLi batteries, Sealence announces that it has completed the feasibility study and defined all the specifications for both the factory and assembly lines.

Site surveys are currently underway to identify suitable locations to accommodate the factory, which is expected to employ approximately fifty workers by 2025.

The facility will have specific sustainability features and will enhance the surrounding environment, consistent with the company’s corporate values and ESG and B-Corp certifications obtained over the years.

Sealence conferma il progetto “SafeLi Giga Factory”Sealence also announces that it signed an official document with the Sardinia Region in recent months, promoted by the regional councilor for Planning and Budget and vice president of the Board, honorable Giuseppe Fasolino, to facilitate mutual assessments on the opportunity to host the SafeLi Giga Factory in the Sardinia Region.

In relation to this agreement, the CEO William Gobbo would like to express his personal comment.

I am truly delighted with this agreement and the forward-thinking approach of this administration, which aims to play a leading role in the Blue Economy. On a broader note, the potential establishment in Sardinia would allow Sealence to continue generating employment, development, and well-being in the country where it originated.
