The team also debuted the Gen2 Formula E car at the Festival of Speed in 2017, breaking a record along the way. After a successful first test day on Friday, the Banbury-based Indian team has announced it will undertake the world’s first public running of the brand new Gen3 car at the famous festival with Nick Heidfeld behind the wheel.

The M9Electro is the fastest, lightest and most powerful electric race car ever built – 60kg lighter than its predecessor and with 100kW more power, the cutting-edge machine will reach a top speed of 200mph. As well as being fast, the Gen3 model is the world’s most efficient race car, generating 40% of the power it uses during a race through regenerative braking.
