Altris and Polarium join forces to explore sodium-ion battery technology for energy storage solutions, which are completely free from conflict minerals and toxic elements.
In November, Altris presented a sodium-ion battery cell with a best-in-class energy density of 160 Wh/kg, making it commercially viable for applications such as sustainable energy storage solutions. The company’s sodium-ion chemistry is made from abundant raw minerals and is free from toxic elements, such as nickel and cobalt. This while offering an outstanding performance in terms of longer life, more flexible working temperatures and safety.
Bringing together Altris’ state-of-the-art sodium-ion battery technology and Polarium’s extensive experience in energy storage solutions, this partnership is set to revolutionize the energy storage landscape. The primary objective is to develop a sodium-ion battery cell tailored to meet the specific requirements of the residential, commercial and industrial energy storage market.
Polarium’s current energy storage solutions are based on lithium-ion, but one of the company’s competitive advantages lies in the agnostic nature to different battery cell chemistries. If development goals are met, Polarium aspires to introduce Altris’ sodium-ion technology to its product portfolio and develop a customized sodium-ion battery cell tailored to the customers’ needs.
