Donington Park, Gran Bretagna. 11 agosto 2015. Sebastien Buemi ha battuto il record della pista di Formula E a Donington Park, mentre ancora una volta ha ottenuto il miglior tempo nei test pre-campionato.
La stella della Renault e.dams ha registrato un miglior tempo di 1m31s050 per battere il miglior tempo precedente a Donington di 1m31s083, che ha registrato alla penultima pre-season un test.
Con una buona folla di pubblico che ha approfittando dell’ingresso gratuito per vedere le vetture di Formula E in azione, Buemi non è stato l’unico pilota a utilizzare la modalità completa da qualificazione di 200 kW per segnare il suo tempo.
“E’ stato un giro un po’ così, ma è difficile fare un giro perfetto qui”, ha detto. “Penso che potremmo andare un secondo più veloce, forse anche arrivare all’ordine di 1m29s. “Sono abbastanza contento ma siamo davvero solo all’inizio dei test del nuovo pacchetto. Ora dobbiamo lavorare sui dettagli del pacchetto powertrain. Potremmo fare un bel po’ sulla vettura e la macchina è un po’ più facile da guidare, la stabilità è migliorata, i freni sono migliori. Vedo qualche buon potenziale, abbiamo solo bisogno di estrarlo dalla macchina”.
Sam Bird è stato il secondo più veloce con il DS Virgin Racing, poco più di quattro decimi più lento di Buemi con un 1m31s469.
“Ovviamente abbiamo fatto un sacco di lavoro prima di questo test così ora a Donington è solo questione di messa a punto e di raffinazione per assicurarsi che tutto funziona al 100 per cento per la prima gara a Pechino”, ha detto. “La vettura è cambiata piuttosto in modo significativo anche nel cambio necessario, ma i ragazzi di DS e di Virgin hanno fatto un lavoro fantastico e speriamo di poter affrontare la stagione con un pacchetto forte”.
Terzo tempo per Daniel Abt, che ha avuto entrambe le vetture Abt Schaeffler a sua disposizione dopo la presa in consegna dal festeggiato Lucas di Grassi. Il miglior giro del tedesco è stato di 1m31s537.
Abt ha detto:
“Per i due giorni abbiamo deciso di dividere il lavoro di test con Lucas [di Grassi] il lunedi e me oggi. Ci ha aiutato a guadagnare più giri consecutivi ed a lavorare sul set-up più facilmente. Questi ultimi due giorni ci siamo concentrati sui problemi di software e problemi meccanici e abbiamo fatto un passo enorme in avanti dal primo giorno al secondo. La macchina andava bene e veloce e ci si sente che abbiamo un buon pacchetto”.
E ‘stata una buona giornata per i piloti Mahindra Racing Nick Heidfeld quarto e Bruno Senna al sesto, completando oltre 50 giri per tutto il corso della giornata.
Il vincitore della gara di GP2 Tom Dillmann ha avuto il suo primo vero test per il Team Aguri e ha collezionato giri, provando entrambe le simulazioni di qualifica e da corsa. Ha registrato il decimo miglior tempo.
Andretti è anche riuscito a scendere in pista, ma una serie di difficoltà iniziali ha impedito Simona de Silvestro di registrare un tempo rappresentativo.
Problemi tecnici hanno anche ostacolato NEXTEV TCR e Trulli, il che significa che Nelson Piquet Jr, Oliver Turvey e Jarno Trulli non sono stati in grado di completare alcun giro.

New lap record for Buemi at Donington

Donington Park, UK. August 11th, 2015. Sebastien Buemi broke the Formula E lap record at Donington Park as he once again set the fastest time in pre-season testing.
The RENAULT e.dams star set a best lap of 1:31.050s to beat the previous best time at Donington of 1:31.083s, which he recorded at the penultimate pre-season one test.
With a good crowd again taking advantage of free entry to see the Formula E cars in action, Buemi was not the only driver to use the full qualifying mode of 200kw to set his time.
“It was a bit of a scrappy lap, but it’s difficult to do a perfect lap around here,” he said. “I think we could go a second quicker, maybe even into the 1m29s. “I’m quite happy but we are really only at the start of the new package. Now we need to work on the details of the package. We could do quite a bit on the car and the car is a bit easier to drive, the stability is better, the brakes are better. I see some good potential, we just need to extract it from the car.”
Sam Bird was second fastest for DS Virgin Racing, lapping just over four tenths slower than Buemi with a 1:31.469s.
“Obviously we did plenty of work before this test so now at Donington it’s just a case of fine tuning and refining to make sure everything works 100 per cent for the first race in Beijing,” he said. “The car is quite a significant change with few gear changes needed but the guys at DS and Virgin have done a fantastic job and hopefully we can head into the season with a strong package.”
Third fastest was Daniel Abt, who had both Abt Schaeffler cars at his disposal after taking over from birthday boy Lucas di Grassi. The German’s best lap was 1:31.537s.
Abt said: “For the two days we decided to split the running with Lucas [di Grassi] testing on Monday and myself today. It helped us gain more consecutive running and work on set-up changes more easily. These past two days we’ve focused on fixing software issues and mechanical issues and we took a massive step forward from the first day to the second. The car felt good and fast and it feels like we have a good package.”
It was a good day for Mahindra Racing with Nick Heidfeld in fourth and Bruno Senna in sixth, completing over 50 laps throughout the course of the day.
GP2 race winner Tom Dillmann had his first proper test for Team Aguri and he racked up the laps, trying both qualifying simulations and a race run. He recorded the 10th fastest time. Andretti also managed to get out on track, but a series of teething troubles prevented Simona de Silvestro from setting a representative time.
Technical issues also hampered NEXTEV TCR and Trulli, which meant that Nelson Piquet Jr, Oliver Turvey and Jarno Trulli were unable to complete any running.
Testing resumes at Donington on Monday August 17.
