Everrati svela i dettagli tecnici della GT40 elettrica

Everrati has revealed the technical details on its new electric version of the legendary GT40, a flagship that sets new standards for electrified classics.

Furthering the legacy of one of the world’s most desirable cars, the meticulous attention applied by Everrati includes the creation of the company’s own EV propulsion platform, using automotive OEM-level development processes and technology, allied to the latest state-of-the-art electric motors and batteries.

Drawing on the exceptional experience of the Everrati engineering team, which has amassed more than 50 years of working with automotive OEMs, and the strong strategic partnerships it has developed with leading component manufacturers, the technology showcased by the GT40 has been fully proven to the highest possible standards, certified from high-volume vehicle applications.

Everrati’s exacting engineering expertise, applied to every facet of the project’s development, guarantees that the performance and characteristics of the original car are maintained and enhanced where appropriate.

Headquartered in Oxford, UK, Everrati joined forces with Superformance in July last year with the mission of precision re-engineering the legendary Le Mans-winning car with a custom-designed electric drivetrain for a zero-emissions future. Superformance, based in Jupiter, Florida, is a global leader in the manufacture of 1960s-era continuation component sports cars and produces a rolling chassis for the GT40 built under license.

As a result, the Everrati is the world’s only GT40 EV listed in the official Shelby Registry.

Proprietary EV technology

All engineering development has been carried out at Everrati’s UK headquarters in Upper Heyford, a former US airbase in the English Cotswolds, focusing on delivering the exhilarating levels of performance and driving engagement enthusiasts would expect of a redefined version of such a legendary car, while maintaining the soul and integrity of the original.

Everrati svela i dettagli tecnici della GT40 elettricaEverrati’s proprietary state-of-the-art EV powertrain generates up to 800bhp and 800Nm of torque, with state-of-the-art technology from Integral Powertrain providing twin high-performance OEM-validated radial flux permanent magnet electric motors that supply drive to the car’s rear axle.

The power-dense 60kWh lithium-ion battery integrated into a sector-leading 700-volt electrical system benefits from advanced liquid-cooling and thermal and safety management systems to support high-performance use on both road and track. The battery can be charged from 20% to 80% via an 80kW CCS fast charger in as little as 45 minutes and provides a range in excess of 125 miles.

To ensure optimum weight distribution and enhance vehicle dynamics, every element of the powertrain, including the battery and driveline, utilizes existing chassis structural mounting points. Battery packs are positioned within the sills and behind the driver and passenger, while the low positioning of the battery in the chassis also optimizes rear visibility.

This meticulous approach means that the GT40 offers weight a distribution of 40/60 F/R, better even than the original 1966 GT40 MKII A which raced at Le Mans (38/62), while its kerb weight of 1,320kg makes it 47kg lighter than a fully fuelled vehicle in period, too.

The 6.52:1 compound single ratio reduction transmission system and race-derived limited-slip differential used are fully optimized for the high performance dual electric motor installation system. Engineered for efficient, ultra-rapid power delivery, the Everrati GT40 delivers blistering acceleration, surging to 60mph in well under four seconds, and on to a top speed of more than 125mph.

Evocative soundtrack synchronised to driver-controlled gearshifts

But there is more to the GT40 than sheer sensational performance. Making the car as characterful, engaging and fun to drive as possible has also been a critical focus. By using technology developed for high-end racing simulators and existing premium EV sports cars, Everrati gives the driver the option to evoke the visceral engagement of the original GT40 in ‘Race Mode’.

Everrati svela i dettagli tecnici della GT40 elettricaBy selecting this mode, the driver (and passenger) experience twin active sound generators, which deliver up to 110db of augmented V8 exhaust sound.

The gear shifter – which is normally used to select drive, reverse or neutral – also enables the driver to select virtual gears, with each shift synchronised to the sound generators and torque delivery giving a corresponding momentary ‘pause’ in acceleration to ensure driver engagement that invokes the experience of driving a car with a conventional transmission.

Seat-mounted transducers further immerse the driver in a seductive aural experience that is truly captivating.

Safety, too, is a priority, with the car’s sophisticated motorsport-derived user display interface providing the driver with extensive live data on the performance and condition of every element of the EV powertrain. With the driver’s permission, an on-board 4G data logger delivers further reassurance by enabling remote access to Everrati engineers for diagnostic purposes.

Poised to meet global demand

The development of the GT40 also dovetails with Everrati’s ever-growing ability to meet surging demand for its electric classics thanks to the successful application of its repeatable and scalable production process, made possible by the development of its own propulsion platform, which enables application to most classic vehicles, no matter the drivetrain. This business model will allow the company to rapidly set up manufacturing partnerships in new markets around the globe as interest in Everrati vehicles continues to escalate. Everrati has already agreed a strategic partnership with Aria Group in Irvine, California, to begin the build of electric versions of the Porsche 964 (911) for the US market.
