Citroën has been partner of the international finals of the Rip Curl GromSearch, hold near Hossegor from November 4 to 8.
This global surfing event, featuring champions under 16, marked the return of Citroën’s collaboration with Rip Curl. The partnership is rooted in shared values such as innovation, style, and a passion for freedom, adventure, and the great outdoors.
We are extremely delighted to renew our partnership with Citroën, a collaboration that began in 2015 and has given rise to numerous inspiring projects. We will be rolling out several joint projects and activations during this event. Throughout the competition week, Citroën provided a fleet of vehicles for participant transfers and offered test drives of Ami and Ami Buggy. This model is particularly suited to an event targeting youth under 16, as it is accessible from age 14 without a driver’s license and offers gentle electric mobility. It’s a tangible way to give young people the freedom to surf and move around the city.
To mark the competition, Citroën revealed a new edition of its concept car, designed specifically for the occasion: Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision. It embodies all the attributes of an adventurer focused on escape and leisure, enhanced by distinctive colors, materials, and clever features tailored to surfers’ needs.
The Citroën and Rip Curl connection
Citroën and Rip Curl naturally share the same philosophy: freedom, authenticity and creativity. A new surfer spirit for Ami Buggy
With its playful character, Citroën Ami Buggy now takes on a fresh identity. Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision is the result of a shared vision between two brands that place user experience at the heart of design. Citroën and Rip Curl have imagined a vehicle that authentically embodies the surfer spirit: practical, rugged, and adventure ready. Every detail is crafted to meet riders’ real needs: easy mobility, gear transport, comfortable changing, and full enjoyment of every moment.
With Rip Curl’s expertise, its design is optimized for surfers: smart storage, enhanced space, and leisure-ready features. Citroën shares this vision, making electric mobility adventurous, accessible, and stylish.
A design inspired by the waves
Its design retains the Buggy DNA while integrating surf-inspired elements:
- Purple body color that contrasts with a white sunroof, black canvas and black spoiler.
- White stickers on the rear quarter window.
- White headlights and a white LED bar on the roof for optimal visibility.
- Eco-designed interior with cushioned seat pads printed with Rip Curl-inspired motifs.
- Purple dashboard storage bins.
On the Same Wavelength for Equipment
Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision includes practical and innovative accessories:
- Floor mats made from recycled surf wetsuits, water-resistant and easy to clean
- Portable shower and changing mat for clean post-surf entry
- Waterproof bag for wet gear
- Banana pouch attachable to the steering wheel, a new storage for the car and daily use
- Foldable, waterproof passenger-side storage bin
- Roof and side mounts for surfboards without cluttering the cabin
To reinforce the world of practical leisure accessories are designed to match the concept:
- Surfboard with seat-matching motifs, branded Citroën x Rip Curl.
- Ami-shaped wax comb.

- Glass globe created by artist Charlotte Bourrus, symbolizing the shared universe of both brands: leisure, surf, adventure, and freedom.
