The 2025 NXT Gen Cup season gets underway this weekend at Germany’s Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, 25–27 April.
Now in its third year, the all-electric touring car championship once again runs alongside DTM, offering a unique blend of competitive racing, sustainability, and talent development.
Launched in 2023, NXT Gen Cup made history as the world’s first fully electric touring car series tailored specifically for junior drivers. The concept quickly gained traction—bridging the gap between karting and car racing for young talents, while also providing a competitive arena for more experienced drivers.
The series revolves around the LRT NXT1, a race car based on the MINI Cooper SE. Powered by a 30kWh battery and producing 230 horsepower, it features push-to-pass functionality and runs on Hankook Ventus TD tires. Charging solutions are provided by ABB E-mobility.
Diverse driver lineup blends experience and emerging talent

This season’s grid features competitors from seven countries, with a dynamic mix of returning drivers and fresh faces. Among them is Latvian Patricija Stalidzane, back after finishing fifth in last year’s standings. She made headlines in 2024 by finishing second at Sachsenring—becoming the first female driver in series history to claim a podium finish.
Sweden’s Siri Hökfelt enters her third consecutive season, as does Czech driver Filip Bartoš. Making their car racing debuts are 14-year-old Vera Jurland—matching the record as the youngest driver in series history—and 15-year-old sim racing sensation Sean Terre.
Another highlight on the grid in 2025 is Austria’s four-time Paralympian Andreas Kapfinger, competing in a specially adapted car equipped with hand-operated throttle and braking controls.
Dutch dominance at the official pre-season testing
Ahead of the season opener, the full grid took part in official pre-season testing at Sweden’s Gelleråsen Arena. Under sunny spring skies, the two-day test not only marked the on-track start of the season but also gave drivers valuable time to work closely with their engineers and mechanics.
Lukas Stiefelhagen topped the official pre-season test at Gelleråsen.
Across eight sessions, Dutch returnee Lukas Stiefelhagen impressed by topping the timesheets in seven of them.
Oschersleben – race weekend schedule
The Oschersleben round marks the first of four championship weekends in 2025. The event features four races—two on Saturday and two on Sunday—with qualifying sessions each morning. Track action begins on Friday with two free practice sessions.
