Vergne and Vandoorne tested the new Gen3 EVO developed by DS Performance

Vergne e Vandoorne hanno testato la nuova Gen3 EVO sviluppata da DS Performance

Jean-Eric Vergne and Stoffel Vandoorne have completed a test day with the Gen3 Evo Formula E car developed by the competition arm of DS Automobiles.

Featuring four-wheel drive and a new bodywork kit that is more aerodynamic, the  Gen3 Evo is a lot faster and more efficient than the current Gen3.

The Gen3 Evo will make its competition debut on Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Two-time Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne and 2022 champion Stoffel Vandoorne drove the Gen3 Evo for DS Automobiles – with the powertrain developed by the marque’s motorsport division – during a test day at the Majorca circuit in Spain.

With the collaboration of Penske Autosport, DS Performance team sampled the car’s four-wheel drive performance, equipped with new tyres, and the aerodynamics of the latest bodywork kit that was tried out for the very first time.

After 200 laps of running, the vital information collected by the engineers has delivered more knowledge about this new car, which is a lot quicker – with a 0-100kph time of less than two seconds – and more efficient than the current DS E-TenseFE23.

Following another series of tests, the DS Penske Gen3 Evo will be launched in autumn of this year ahead of Formula E Season11.

Eugenio Franzetti, DS Performance director:

The test day with Jean-Eric and Stoffel was very educational. The team has been working with the Gen3 Evo and the new tyres since the start of the year but this was the first time that we also had the full new bodywork kit. We can’t wait to see this latest car on track during Season 11. With its four-wheel drive and incredible acceleration, the competition will be even more compelling!
