We’ve talked a lot about the new Gen4 Formula E car that will debut, but we haven’t said anything from the medical perspective.
Every new racing car undergoes stringent safety testing, and the medical team that follows each championship must also know the car to perform extrication and other procedures that requires professionalism, preparation, and knowledge of the racing car.

Regarding this, we spoke with Anthony Clement, Head of VEM Motorsport, part of Vantage Event Medicine, a provider of medical, safety, and rescue services (extrication and firefighting) specializing in motorsports and with special experience in electric racing like Formula E.
So in Jeddah, we spoke with Dr. Anthony Clement, Rescue Operations Director at VEM Motorsport, and asked him about the details of the Gen4 from his perspective.
We haven’t seen the car in person yet, and I think we’ll see it at the official presentation, but we’ve had the chance to see both the technical data and some drawings of the car, and I can tell you that life will be quite simpler for us. First of all, because the car is larger, and consequently the halo is also more voluminous, with more space compared to the car’s bodywork. These more generous dimensions make our job easier because we have more room to work both in extrication and in case of other emergencies, so I think it will be a very positive step forward from our point of view, and when I see it in person, I’ll be able to tell you more – concluded Anthony Clement.
