During the Formula E pre-season tests in Valencia, we spoke with CEO Jeff Dodds, who shared some details about Formula E’s plans.
The CEO of the electric single-seater series confirmed that the intention is to increase the number of races in the next few championships, up to a total of 22 or 23, but ruled out the possibility of holding the entire championship with double races in each location.
In some locations, double races can be organized, but in others it’s more difficult for various reasons. Furthermore, many drivers have complained that in certain cases, like Monte Carlo, they would like to have one winner and not two, so when you ask who won in Monte Carlo, obviously there are two names, unless someone has achieved a slew of victories in both races, which as we know is difficult – said Dodds.
The Formula E CEO added, speaking about the championship, that work is underway to maintain two races in China and to organize another race in the United States, which, as we know, are a very important markets.
Formula E is also working to return to racing in India, considering that there is a team from this country that is one of the founders of Formula E (Mahindra) and another whose parent company is originally from India, like Jaguar, which is owned by Tata; not to mention that the latter company also handles some aspects of the in-house broadcasting during the races.
Jeff Dodds also confirmed that they are working to return to racing in Italy, which they consider a very important market, in addition to adding some European locations and other new ones, such as Australia.
