It was a pleasant and interesting surprise to discover that the Hard Rock Stadium facility is owned by the Seminole Native American Indian Tribe.

This Tribe acquired Hard Rock Cafe International in 2007 for a total sum of 965 million dollars and became the first American Tribe to own an international corporation.
The Seminoles are a Native American people, originating in the 18th century in Florida from Creek groups, later also moving to Oklahoma.
Known as the “Unconquered People” for never officially surrendering to the USA, today the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma are sovereign, known for their successful gambling activities (Hard Rock).
Trying to learn more about this people – as Electric Motor News likes to do – we discovered that their origins date back to the 18th century and come from indigenous groups (mainly Creek) who broke away and migrated to Florida, also assimilating runaway African slaves (Black Seminoles).
The term “Seminole” derives from Creek and means “people on the move” or “renegade”.

The Seminoles fought three wars against the United States in the 19th century (Seminole Wars) to avoid forced removal, becoming one of the few tribes never to sign an official peace treaty.
Today they are federally recognized in two main groups: the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.
The Seminole Tribe of Florida is famous for buying Hard Rock Cafe International in 2007 and manages casinos, resorts, and cattle ranches, making them one of the most economically powerful Native American communities.

Historically linked to the Everglades swamps, they lived in structures called chickees.
The society is traditionally organized on a matrilineal basis.
The Seminole people in Florida call themselves “Unconquered” and continue to thrive through the autonomous management of their territory and resources.
The Seminole Tribe of Florida is headquartered in Hollywood (not to be confused with the famous Hollywood in California, the world’s film capital). The city of Hollywood in Florida is located a few kilometers from Fort Lauderdale… which in turn is very close to Miami.
