Tokyo, Giappone. 15 settembre 2016. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) annuncia l’anteprima mondiale del concept Mitsubishi GT-PHEV*1, SUV di ultima generazione che sarà presentato al Motor Show di Parigi 2016*2. Protagonista dello stand MMC, il concept è alimentato dall’avanzato sistema PHEV (ibrido elettrico plug-in) proprietario della casa automobilistica giapponese, basato su tre motori, ed è concepito per offrire un’esperienza di guida disinvolta su strada e in fuoristrada. Insieme a una grande varietà di veicoli ibridi plug-in (PHEV) e 100% elettrici (EV), il concept Mitsubishi GT-PHEV incarna il leitmotiv dello stand: “SUV e motori elettrici: un nuovo passo verso la mobilità del futuro”.

*1: il nome deriva dal concept Ground Tourer, sinonimo di un’esperienza di guida disinvolta su strada e in fuoristrada.

Al Salone di Parigi, MMC esporrà anche il Mitsubishi eX Concept, SUV compatto alimentato da un sistema EV di ultima generazione, e i modelli 2017 di Outlander Outlander PHEV nelle versioni destinate al mercato europeo, anche in questo caso in anteprima assoluta.

L’Outlander propone una nuova console a pavimento e finiture interne di qualità superiore, oltre al sistema Forward Collision Mitigation di MMC, ora dotato delle funzioni di rilevamento pedoni, Blind Spot Warning e altri avanzati dispositivi di sicurezza attiva. Gli stessi dispositivi si trovano anche sul modello Outlander PHEV, che in aggiunta adotta anche una “EV Priority Mode”, ossia la possibilità di dare priorità al funzionamento interamente elettrico.

Mitsubishi GT-PHEV: descrizione

Il concept MITSUBISHI GT-PHEV è un SUV di fascia alta di ultima generazione studiato per avere la padronanza su diverse tipologie di fondo stradale. A caratterizzarne il design è l’ultimo linguaggio stilistico adottato da MMC. Al capitolo tecnologie si ascrivono invece gli evoluti sistemi di propulsione elettrica e di trazione integrale sviluppati dalla casa automobilistica, che permettono di gestire in tutta sicurezza il veicolo a fronte delle più disparate condizioni di guida stimolando la curiosità e il senso di avventura di chi siede al volante, all’insegna di un’esperienza tutta nuova.

Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept

È il design stesso del concept MITSUBISHI GT-PHEV a proiettare l’immagine di un “ground tourer”, cioè di un’auto fatta per percorrere con disinvoltura una moltitudine di terreni, esprimendo bellezza funzionale, possibilità aumentate, dinamismo scultoreo e manifattura giapponese.

Il frontale, con la sua presenza imponente, emana l’identità stilistica Dynamic Shield di MMC, con la sua funzione di protezione dei passeggeri e del veicolo stesso. Di fianco, le linee orizzontali sottolineano l’estetica da SUV di fascia alta e la stabilità del concept MITSUBISHI GT-PHEV. Con una muscolosità e un’intensità tali da dare l’impressione di essere ricavata da un unico lingotto d’acciaio, la carrozzeria sfoggia una linea di classe che trabocca di un dinamismo scultoreo esaltato da dettagli ben definiti.

A bordo, la plancia orizzontale offre spaziosità che aiuta il guidatore a rilevare prontamente eventuali cambiamenti nel comportamento del veicolo. Insieme al quadro strumenti con console centrale in posizione alta, gli interni stile cockpit avvolgono gli occupanti, trasmettendo un senso di tranquillità e protezione. A contribuire alla classe e al comfort dell’abitacolo sono anche i rivestimenti in vera pelle color bordeaux*3, in tinta con la finitura esterna del tetto.

Sul fronte tecnologico, l’avanzato sistema PHEV a triplo motore di MMC assicura performance eccellenti non solo sul piano ecologico ma anche su quello della motricità, offrendo la possibilità di affrontare con fiducia – indipendentemente dall’abilità al volante – nuove avventure di guida nelle più diverse condizioni atmosferiche e stradali, garantendo un’esperienza piacevole e appagante.

Il sistema PHEV comprende un pacco batterie a elevata capacità di ultima generazione, tre motori elettrici ad alta ef ficienza ed elevata potenza, e un motore endotermico progettato ad hoc, caratterizzato da una migliore capacità di generazione elettrica e da prestazioni ottimali. Questa combinazione assicura la potenza ideale per un “ground tourer” e comfort ottimale anche nei lunghi viaggi, offrendo un’autonomia di percorrenza di 120 km con la sola alimentazione elettrica e di 1.200 km con propulsione ibrida. I tre motori elettrici, uno sull’anteriore e due sul posteriore, migliorano sensibilmente le performance sia del sistema di trazione integrale permanente sia del sistema di controllo dinamico integrato Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) di Mitsubishi Motors, ottenendo nuovi livelli di stabilità.

Il concept MITSUBISHI GT-PHEV adotta inoltre l’ultima tecnologia di connessione a bordo per massimizzare le sue performance e funzionalità. Il sistema trasmette al veicolo le informazioni su percorso, situazione meteo e condizioni stradali acquisite dalle reti di informazione, oltre che dai sensori e dalle telecamere di bordo, per permettere una gestione precisa dei consumi energetici, sia elettrici che di carburante, e per ottimizzare la trazione integrale a seconda delle situazioni di guida.

World Premiere of Ground Tourer SUV Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept

Tokyo, Japan. 14th September 2016. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announces the world premiere of the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept[1] next-generation SUV at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. The concept model is powered by MMC’s own advanced plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV) system using triple motors.

The centerpiece of the MMC booth, it will be based on a concept of the ability for cruising across a vast land. The Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept, along with a variety of plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) and 100% electric vehicles (EV) supports the “Driving Beyond: Another Step Forward with SUVs and Electric Power” booth theme.

Joining the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept at the MMC booth will be the Mitsubishi eX Concept, a compact SUV powered by a next-generation EV system, and 2017 model year European market versions of the Outlander and Outlander PHEV – all being shown for the first time.

The Outlander features a new floor console and improved interior trim quality as well as MMC’s Forward Collision Mitigation System, now with a function to detect pedestrians, Blind Spot Warning and other advanced active safety systems. The Outlander PHEV meanwhile, adopts an EV Priority Mode that gives greater priority to all-electric operation as well as the same advanced active safety systems as the Outlander.

Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept: Outline

The Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept is a high-end next-generation SUV that easily takes many road surface conditions in its stride. Featuring MMC’s latest design language together with MMC’s advanced and proprietary electric and all-wheel control technologies, the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept empowers drivers to pilot their car with confidence under a wide range of driving conditions. It stirs the driver’s curiosity and sense of adventure as they seek to go further, as they seek to take a step beyond anything they have experienced before.

In its overall design, the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept projects the image of a “ground tourer” – a car made for cruising across a vast land – expressing Functional Beauty, Augmented Possibility, Sculptured Dynamism, Japanese Craftsmanship.

The front visage with its forceful presence employs MMC’s Dynamic Shield front design concept that portrays the front end’s function of protecting both people and the car. From the side, the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept uses horizontal lines to convey its high-end SUV styling and vehicle stability. With a muscularity and intensity that gives the impression it has been carved from a single ingot of steel, the body is clothed in classy styling that flourishes sculptured dynamism highlighted by precise detailing.

Inside, the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept uses a horizontal dashboard that creates a spacious ambiance, making it easier for the driver to sense changes in vehicle attitude. Together with an instrument panel with a high center console, the cockpit-like interior wraps around its people, providing a sense of solace and security. Generous use of Burgundy[3] genuine leather trim, color coordinated with the exterior roof color is another touch in creating a classy and comfortable interior space.

On the technology front, in addition to outstanding environmental performance MMC’s advanced triple-motor PHEV system delivers superior motive performance to empower drivers of any skill level to confidently follow new paths as they like through a multitude of different weather and road surface conditions, for an enjoyable and rewarding driving experience.

This PHEV system comprises a next-generation high-capacity drive battery package, three high-output and high-efficiency motors and an engine designed especially for the PHEV system featuring improved electricity generation performance and motive performance.

This combination delivers the punchy performance ideal for a “ground tourer” and makes for comfortable driving on longer trips as well with an electric-only range of 120 km and a combined hybrid cruising range of over 1,200 km. The triple-motor powertrain, with one unit at the front and two at the rear, delivers a dramatic improvement in the performance of its full-time four-wheel drive powertrain and MMC’s own Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) integrated vehicle dynamics control system, bringing new levels of handling stability.

The Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept also adopts the latest in connected car technology in extracting its performance and functionality to the full. The technology feeds back to the car route information as well as data on weather and road surface conditions acquired from information networks and from on-board sensors and cameras in order to closely manage energy consumption such as electricity consumption and fuel economy as well as to provide all-wheel control best-suited to many motoring situations.
