Detroit Electric SP: 01 sarà la prima vettura elettrica pura ad effettuare un giro cronometrato al nuovissimo circuito cittadino FIA di Formula E al Hong Kong ePrix.

Leamington Spa, Gran Bretagna e Hong Kong. 6 ottobre 2016.  L’arrivo della prima vettura elettrica sportiva specifica di produzione Detroit Electric a Hong Kong sarà caratterizzata dalla realizzazione di un giro cronometrato nel circuito del Hong Kong ePrix, gara inaugurale del FIA Formula Championship 2016/2017.

Il modello elettrico SP: 01, che viene costruito nel Warwickshire, Regno Unito, sarà presentato nell’occasione al porto di Hong Kong con un giro cronometrato al circuito di Formula E nel pomeriggio di Sabato 8 ottobre.

La prima vettura sportiva SP: 01 ad arrivare in Asia è stata ordinata dall’importatore esclusivo di Detroit Electric per la Cina, Jowett Motors (Asia) Ltd. Il suo aspetto segna l’apertura ufficiale del portafoglio ordini per Hong Kong, e Detroit Electric si prepara a soddisfare un flusso di richieste da potenziali clienti che hanno seguito la SP: 01 del debutto sul mercato ad Auto Shanghai lo scorso anno. Il Dr. Richard Lee, il proprietario di Jowett Motors (Asia) Ltd e Presidente Esecutivo e Amministratore Delegato di Wo Kee Hong (Holdings) Limited hanno ampliato la portata fino a diventare l’unico agente di importazione, vendite e distribuire della SP:01 a Hong Kong.

La presentazione da parte di Detroit Electric nel circuito di Hong Kong ePrix avviene in vista dell’apertura del campionato 2016/17 del Campionato FIA Formula E, sullo skyline della città e comprende un percorso di due chilometri a 10 curve. Si tratta di una pista impegnativa che comprende due tornanti stretti e un rettilineo principale da 555 metri. La SP:01 da due posti è un modello completamente standard, senza particolari modifiche, e sarà guidata dall’eroe delle corse locali, il sig Darryl O’Young.

“Il circuito di Hong Kong è l’ambiente ideale per mostrare la SP: 01 ed il suo puro rendimento elettrico, che fornisce un esaltante esperienza su strada, dinamica di guida ed è ai vertici della categoria della gestione per i nostri clienti”, ha detto Albert Lam, fondatore, Presidente e CEO di Detroit Electric Holdings Group.

Giovedì 6 ottobre, prima del giro cronometrato, la Detroit Electric SP: 01 sarà ufficialmente accolta in Asia con un ricevimento diplomatico presso il Consolato Generale Britannico di Hong Kong. L’evento è impostato per essere assistito da un ‘chi è chi’ tra i VIP di Hong Kong, tra cui funzionari governativi, imprenditori high-tech, esistenti e potenziali investitori e clienti, per citarne solo una serie di celebrità locali.

L’arrivo della prima SP: 01 a Hong Kong è l’ultimo passo nell’espansione della Detroit Electric della sua presenza globale, che ha visto la nomina di distributori in paesi come Regno Unito, Paesi Bassi, Norvegia, Islanda, Sud Africa, Azerbaijan, Cina, Corea del Sud e Giappone.

Durante l’evento di alto profilo della ricezione a Hong Kong, i dirigenti Detroit Electric riveleranno maggiori dettagli sui piani della società per i futuri veicoli, tra cui due nuovi modelli che dovrebbero essere lanciati entro i prossimi tre anni. Questi veicoli elettrici puri erediteranno lo stesso DNA Detroit Electric della SP: 01, con ampio uso di materiali leggeri, i rapporti peso-potenza al vertice della categoria ed una guida emozionante che stabilisce nuovi standard di prestazioni e gestione per i veicoli elettrici.

Commentando gli ultimi sviluppi in Asia, il signor Lam ha dichiarato:

La Detroit Electric SP: 01, la più veloce biposto sportiva elettrica pura di produzione del mondo, promette ottima accelerazione, raggiungendo 60 mph da fermo in soli 3,7 secondi (0-100 km/h in 3,9 secondi) e farà una volata ad un’impressionante velocità di punta di 155 mph (249 kmh).

Dotata di un motore elettrico da 285HP / 210kW e carrozzeria in fibra di carbonio, la vettura ha una sola velocità nell’attuale trasmissione di serie, con la possibilità di avere un cambio da due velocità automatico e un cambio manuale a sei marce. La SP: 01 viene fornita con entrambe i tettucci duri e morbidi come standard.

La batteria della SP: 01 è stata integrata nel telaio come elemento portante, aggiungendo rigidità per migliorare la maneggevolezza e la sicurezza. La batteria al litio leggera ad alta densità di energia è una delle batterie automobilistiche a più alto contenuto energetico al mondo, beneficiando di maggiore autonomia pur mantenendo il basso peso complessivo del veicolo.

Leamington Spa, UK and Hong Kong. 6th October 2016. The arrival of the first production-specification Detroit Electric sports car in Hong Kong will be marked by the setting of an inaugural timed lap of the FIA Formula E Hong Kong ePrix circuit.

The performance of the pure-electric SP:01 model, which is built in Warwickshire, UK, will be showcased at the Hong Kong Central Harbour front with a timed lap on the afternoon of Saturday 8 October at 2:25pm – 2:40pm.

The first SP:01 sports car to arrive in Asia was ordered by Detroit Electric’s exclusive importer for China, Jowett Motors (Asia) Ltd. Its appearance marks the official opening of order books for Hong Kong, as Detroit Electric prepares to fulfil a stream of enquiries from prospective customers that followed the SP:01’s market debut at Auto Shanghai last year. Dr. Richard Lee, the principle owner of Jowett Motors (Asia) Ltd, and Executive Chairman and Executive Officer of Wo Kee Hong (Holdings) Limited has expanded his reach to become the sole import agent to sell and distribute the SP:01 in Hong Kong.

Detroit Electric’s performance lap of the Hong Kong ePrix circuit takes place ahead of the opening of the 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship, set against the iconic city skyline and comprising a 10-turn two-kilometre course. It is a demanding race track that includes two tight hairpins and a 555-metre main straight. The two-seater SP:01 is a completely standard model with no special modifications, and will be driven by local racing hero, Mr Darryl O’Young.

On Thursday 6 October, before Detroit Electric’s timed lap, the SP:01 will be officially welcomed to Asia with a diplomatic reception at the British Consulate-General in Hong Kong. The event is set to be attended by a ‘who’s who’ of Hong Kong VIPs, including government officials, high-tech entrepreneurs, existing and prospective investors and customers, not to mention a host of local celebrities.

The arrival of the first SP:01 in Hong Kong is the latest step in Detroit Electric’s expansion of its global footprint, which has seen the appointment of distributors in countries such as UK, Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, South Africa, Azerbaijan, China, South Korea and Japan.

During the high-profile reception event in Hong Kong, Detroit Electric executives will reveal more details about the company’s plans for future additional vehicles, including two new models due to be launched within the next three years. These pure EVs will inherit the same Detroit Electric ‘DNA’ as the SP:01, featuring extensive use of lightweight materials, class-leading power-to-weight ratios and a thrilling drive that sets new standards for performance and handling for electric vehicles.

The Detroit Electric SP:01, the world’s fastest two-seat pure-electric production sports car, promises blistering acceleration, reaching 60mph from standstill in just 3.7 seconds (0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds) and will sprint to an impressive top speed of 155mph (249km/h).

Featuring a 285HP / 210kW electric motor and carbon fibre body panels, the car is fitted with a single speed automatic transmission as standard, with the option of both twin-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmissions. The SP:01 is supplied with both hard and soft tops as standard.

The battery in the SP:01 has been integrated into the chassis as a stressed member, adding stiffness to enhance handling and safety. The military grade, lightweight high density lithium battery is one of the most energy-dense automotive battery packs in the world, benefitting range while keeping overall vehicle weight low.
