The news of Pope Francis’ death came on Easter Monday like a bolt from the blue, after having seen him on TV the day before in the crowd.
Leafing through the album of memories, we can say that he was a Pope passionate about sports, starting with his Argentine team San Lorenzo di Almagro, but who always had an eye on all sports disciplines.
Formula E was no exception, because before the first edition of the Rome E-Prix in 2018, Pope Francis met a delegation of Formula E managers and drivers (here is the link to the news on Electric Motor News) at Porta Santa Marta, in the Vatican City.
On that moment, Pope Francis blessed the cars (they were those of Gen1) and the drivers.
