Production begins of the new Nissan LEAF in Europe

New Nissan Leaf is now also being produced in Europe, at the English plant in Sunderland and the first deliveries are scheduled for February 2018; starting from the next spring in Italy.

Icon of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the new Nissan Leaf has already been awarded in several international locations for innovation and technology that includes the latest generation driving assistance, increased autonomy and optimized connectivity.

Among the technologies present in the new Nissan Leaf there are e-Pedal, that allow the driver to start, accelerate and decelerate with just one pedal; the ProPILOT assisted driving system and the advanced assisted driving system that automatically controls the parking called ProPILOT Park.

Kevin Fitzpatrick, Nissan Europe Divisional Vice President for Manufacturing, commented:

Nissan is a trailblazer in 100% electric mobility with the launch of the Leaf in 2011 in Europe and since then we see growing customer interest in our vision for the future of mobility. We are excited to start production at Sunderland and introduce the new Nissan Leaf in European markets.

The new Nissan Leaf is able to travel up to 378 km on a single charge, allowing drivers to make long-distance journeys through the European network of fast charging stations CHAdeMO and the Italian network Fast Recharge stations of the EVA + project, coordinated by Enel and co-financed by the European Commission together with the main car manufacturers including Nissan.
