Città del Messico, Messico. 11 Marzo 2016. Si tratta di una completamente nuova location dove si svolgerà la quinta gara del Campionato di Formula E a Città del Messico. La pista lunga 2,09 km ha 18 curve ed è costruita nello storico Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, nel quale si svolgono anche le gare di Formula Uno.

I piloti della Formula E faranno la gara sul totale di 43 giri. Questa sarà la prima volta in questa stagione che le squadre correranno in un luogo nuovo come Città del Messico, che non ha fatto parte della line-up nella stagione 1 e c’è molto entusiasmo da parte dei tifosi di Città del Messico. Gli spalti della gara terranno 40.000 spettatori per la prima gara di Formula E in Messico.

“Chicane veloci, alte velocità nei rettilinei prima delle curve strette. Questa pista non è come le altre, quindi sarà interessante vedere come gestiamo questa nuova pista il sabato”, ha spiegato Franck Baldet, coordinatore del team Venturi. Guardando entrambe le classifiche piloti e team, Franck ha dichiarato: “Possiamo vedere che è possibile per noi inseguire il apripista. Come ho già detto molte volte, noi siamo i perdenti della stagione e per riuscire ad avere successo abbiamo bisogno che entrambi i piloti segnino dei punti in modo da essere in una buona posizione nella seconda metà di questa stagione. Siamo molto fiduciosi del nostro nuovo pilota, Mike Conway, che sta ancora imparando i segreti della Formula E con una sola gara disputata in Argentina il mese scorso. Sono certo che farà buoni progressi e mostrerà il suo talento in questa gara in Messico. Ha fatto un ottimo lavoro nei turni di qualificazione in Argentina, e abbiamo molta fiducia in lui. Per quanto riguarda Stephane Sarrazin, ha solo bisogno di continuare a fare quello che ha fatto in tutta la stagione. Ha segnato ogni volta”

Stéphane e Mike hanno scoperto la pista praticamente sul simulatore la scorsa settimana, un importante primo passo per imparare le sue dinamiche, familiarizzare con i giri, testando diverse gamme di potenza, e impostare il set-up della vettura. Le prime attività in pista in Messico saranno venerdì alle 03:00 con lo shakedown e la quinta gara del campionato FIA di Formula-E è in programma alle 16:00 di sabato (ora locale).

Mexico City, Mexico. 11 Marzo 2016.  It is a completely new location for round 5 of the Formula-E Championship in Mexico City, Mexico. The 2.09 km long track  has 18 turns and is built in the historic Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez where Formula One also races. Formula-E drivers will go for 43 laps. This will be the first time this season that the teams will race in a completely new location, as Mexico City was not part of the line-up in season 1 and there is a lot of anticipation from the fans in Mexico City. The race stands will hold 40,000 spectators for the first Formula-E race in Mexico.

“Fast chicanes, high speeds in the straights before the turns – this track isn’t like the others so it will be interesting to see how we manage this new track on Saturday.” explained Franck Baldet, Venturi’s team coordinator. Looking at both driver and team rankings, Franck said “We can see that it’s possible for us to chase the frontrunners. As I have said many times, we are the underdog of the season and to succeed we need both drivers to score points in order to be in a good position going into the second half of this season. We are very supportive of our new driver, Mike Conway, who is still learning Formula-E with only one race under his belt in Argentina last month. I am positive that he will make good progress and show his talents in this race in Mexico. He has done a great job in the qualifying rounds in Argentina, and we have a lot of confidence in him. As for Stephane Sarrazin, he just needs to keep doing what he’s been doing all season – he scored each time.”

Stéphane and Mike both discovered the track virtually on the simulator last week, an important first step in learning its dynamics, getting familiar with the turns, testing different ranges of power, and set up of the car.

The first runs in Mexico will be Friday at 3pm with the shakedown and the round 5 race of the FIA Formula-E championship is scheduled at 4pm Saturday (local time).
