Tom Dillmann sostituisce Maro Engel nell’ePrix di Parigi

Montecarlo, Principato di Monaco. 24 Aprile 2017. Nel sesto round del Campionato di Formula E che si terrà a Parigi il 20 Maggio, il francese Tom Dillmann sostituirà Maro Engel. Pilota Mercedes-AMG, Engel corre anche nel DTM e non potrà essere a Parigi perché impegnato lo stesso fine settimana nel campionato  tedesco.

“Sono felice di poter correre il round francese come pilota di riserva di Venturi”, ha detto Dillmann, che rappresenterà il team monegasco per la seconda volta quest’anno. Il francese era già sceso in pista in Messico i primi di Aprile per lo shakedown del venerdì al posto di Stephane Sarrazin.

“La Formula E è un campionato molto avvincente ed estremamente interessante dal punto di vista tecnico. Il mio obiettivo è quello di poter disputare in futuro una stagione completa” ha aggiunto il campione in carica di Formula V8 3.5.

Tra gli highlights della sua carriera Dillmann può vantare anche il titolo nella Formula 3 tedesca nel 2010 e la vittoria di diverse gare nella Serie GP2 , mentre al momento è impegnato in gare con macchine sportive.

“Siamo rimasti molto ben impressionati dalla professionalità di Dillmann in Messico. Tom ha avuto modo di confrontarsi con il team e gli ingegneri e questa esperienza risulterà utile per il round di Parigi”, ha spiegato Marc Gindorf, co-proprietario del Venturi Racing team, “Tom rappresenta la migliore scelta per questa gara”.

“Tom Dillmann è un pilota esperto nonostante la sua giovane età”, ha commentato il proprietario del team Gildo Pallanca Pastor, “ tuttavia è un rookie in Formula E”.

Anche Maro Engel, che aveva impressionato segnando il secondo miglior tempo nelle qualifiche del Messico, ha espresso soddisfazione per la scelta di Dillmann:

“Ho conosciuto Tom in Messico e si è subito integrato nel team. Sono contento che sia proprio lui a sostituirmi. Seguirò la corsa dal Lausitzring e sarò disponibile per supportarlo, qualora fosse necessario”.

La settimana prima dell’ ePrix di Francia, il circus della Formula E farà tappa a Monaco per il gran premio di casa del Venturi GP. Il 13 maggio il Principato ospiterà infatti il quinto appuntamento della stagione. La corsa si disputerà sul tracciato più corto che è entrato nella storia come sede del GP di Monaco dal 1929.

Il Venturi Formula E Team

Con sede a Monaco, il Venturi Formula E Team è il reparto corse di Venturi Automobiles. Il proprietario Gildo Pallanca Pastor può esser considerato uno dei pionieri nella mobilità elettrica ai massimi livelli. Dopo l’acquisizione della Venturi Paris S.A nel 2000, Venturi si  è distinta nella sperimentazione di motori alternativi, in particolare quelli elettrici ed è fornitore dei motori elettrici per le auto delle Poste francesi. Co-proprietario di Venturi GP è Marc Gindorf, pilota che vanta una lunga carriera nel DTM e al leggendario Nordschleife.

Presente nel Campionato Formula E sin dalla prima stagione, il Team Venturi Formula E ha schierato Nick Heidfeld e Stéphane Sarrazin nel 2014/2015. L’anno successivo Sarrazzin ha condiviso il box con l’ex campione di Formula Uno Jacques Villeneuve ed il britannico Mike Conway. Riconfermato Sarrazin anche per la stagione in corso, il francese è affiancato dal tedesco Maro Engel per la sfida al Campionato 2016/2017.

Tom Dillmann to replace Maro Engel in the ePrix Paris

Montecarlo, Monaco. 24th April 2017. In the sixth round of the Formula E Championship, held in Paris on 20th May, Frenchman Tom Dillmann will replace Venturi regular Maro Engel. The 31-year old who also races in DTM as Mercedes-AMG driver can’t contest the race in the French capital due to a scheduling conflict.

“I’m delighted with having the chance of contesting the race in France as Venturi`s reserve driver,” said Dillmann who is representing the Monaco based team colours for the second time after already having represented the squad in the innovative E-series’ round in Mexico, in early May.

In that race meeting he replaced Stephane Sarrazin in the so-called shakedown on Friday.

“Formula E is an exciting place to be for a driver – with thrilling motor racing and interesting technical developments. It goes without saying that it’s my goal to contest a full season in this series, in the future,” added the reigning Formula V8 3.5 Champion. Other highlights in his career to date were the title in the German Formula 3 series in 2010 and race wins in the GP2 Series. Currently, Dillmann is contesting sports-car races.

“Tom already impressed us with his professionalism in Mexico where he intensely dealt with the team and the approach of the engineers,” explained Marc Gindorf, co-owner of the Venturi racing team.

“This will prove to be helpful for him in Paris. We think that he represents our perfect choice for this race.”

Team owner Gildo Pallanca Pastor is also convinced about the young french.

“ With Tom Dillmann, we choosed a driver who is well experienced  although young of age, nevertheless for Formual E he will count as` Rookie`.

Maro Engel who caused a stir by setting the very fine second-fastest lap time in the qualifying session in Mexico wishes Dillmann a successful race weekend:

“I already met Tom in Mexico and there, he blended in perfectly. I am happy that he is the one to replace me in Paris. I definitely will follow the race from the Lausitzring and will be available to support him from there with words and deeds if this should prove to be necessary.”

But a week before Venturi and the rest of the Formula E field will travel to France for round six of the season, they all have to make a stop in Monaco for the home race of Venturi. On 13th May, the Principality at the Côte d’Azur will stage the fifth round of the season. The race will be contested on a shorter version of the racetrack that has been making history as venue of the Monaco GP since 1929.

Team Venturi is based in Monaco and the motor-racing branch of the automotive supplier Venturi. Company owner Gildo Pallanca Pastor can be regarded as visionary when it comes to electric mobility. In 2000 he took over the management of Venturi Paris S.A. and turned the company from a small-batch car manufacturer into a supplier of innovative drive shafts. Inter alia, Venturi was responsible for the retrofitting of production cars for the French post to electric drive. Co-owner of Venturi GP is German entrepreneur Marc Gindorf who made a name for himself in DTM and at the legendary Nordschleife.

In the Formula E debut season, the Venturi Formula E team was represented on the grid by Nick Heidfeld and Stéphane Sarrazin. The latter was teamed up in 2015 / 2016 with former F1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve and Briton Mike Conway. In the current season, Stephan Sarrazin and Germany’s Maro Engel who resides in Monaco once again will contest the 2016 / 2017 winter season for the Monegasque squad. , with Maro Engel who resides in Monaco being his new team-mate, for the 2016 / 2017 winter season.
