Donington Park, Gran Bretagna. 12 Agosto 2015.

Doninigont Park, UK. August 12th, 2015. It wasn’t just the new season two technology that was being put through its paces at Donington Park this week as there were also some new drivers having their first taste of Formula E machinery too.

One of these was Tom Dillmann. The Frenchman joined Salvador Duran as part of Team Aguri’s test line-up.

After completing a couple of installation laps in the wet on Monday, Dillmann had both of the team’s cars at his disposal on Tuesday. In total he managed 64 laps, recording a best lap of 1:32.369s, which was set during a full-power qualifying simulation in the afternoon session.

“It was my first time in the car so it was about getting the mileage,” he said. “I did one qualifying sim and then some race runs. It was a packed day, so we made the most of it. It went quite well. I spent the last four days with the team on the simulator at the workshop so they prepared me well. Of course it’s very different but I had no surprises today, it was as I expected”.

This season Dillmann, 26, has been racing for Carlin in Formula Renault 3.5 and he also competed in a Blancpain Endurance race in a Bentley. Prior to that he’d competed in GP2 where he was a race winner and in numerous Formula 3 championships, winning the German title in 2010. However, at the moment he is unaware if he will get any further Formula E outings.

“I don’t know more at the moment, it depends on what they do for next year, so we’ll have to see, but I enjoyed it,” he said. “It was fun to go to 200kw in the afternoon and I wish we could do more laps like that. Of course it’s slower than anything I’ve raced before but it’s not easy to get a good time and when you are up against such good drivers and to compare yourself against a grid like that it makes it thrilling.”
