Dichiarazione del Comitato Esecutivo del Consiglio di Sorveglianza Volkswagen AG

Wolfsburg, Germania. 23 Settembre, 2015 In una riunione il Mercoledì 23 settembre, il Comitato Esecutivo del Consiglio di Sorveglianza di Volkswagen AG ha discusso nei dettagli la manipolazione dei dati sulle emissioni dei motori diesel del Gruppo Volkswagen ed è giunto alle seguenti conclusioni:

1. Il Comitato Esecutivo prende molto sul serio la questione. Il Comitato Esecutivo non solo riconosce il danno economico causato, ma anche la perdita di fiducia tra i molti clienti in tutto il mondo.

2. Il Comitato Esecutivo è d’accordo che questi incidenti devono essere chiariti con grande convinzione e che gli errori vengono corretti. Allo stesso tempo, il Comitato Esecutivo è fermamente convinto che adotterà le misure decisive necessarie per garantire un nuovo inizio credibile.

3. Il Comitato Esecutivo ha grande rispetto per l’offerta del Presidente Prof. Dr. Winterkorn a dimettersi dalla sua posizione e di chiedere di terminare il suo contratto di lavoro. Il Comitato Esecutivo rileva che il Prof. Dr. Winterkorn non era a conoscenza della manipolazione dei dati sulle emissioni. Il Comitato Esecutivo ha un enorme rispetto per la sua disponibilità ad assumersi la responsabilità, tuttavia, e, così facendo, di inviare un segnale forte sia internamente che esternamente. Il dottor Winterkorn ha fatto un prezioso contributo a Volkswagen. L’ascesa della società a società globale è indissolubilmente legata al suo nome. Il Comitato Esecutivo ringrazia il dottor Winterkorn per il suo operato negli ultimi decenni, e per la sua disponibilità ad assumersi responsabilità in questa fase criticall dell’azienda. Questo atteggiamento è illustre.

4. Raccomandazioni per il nuovo personale saranno presentate alla prossima riunione del Consiglio di Sorveglianza questo Venerdì.

5. Il Comitato Esecutivo è in attesa di ulteriori conseguenze del personale nei prossimi giorni. Le indagini interne al Gruppo si susseguono a un ritmo elevato. Tutti i partecipanti a questo procedimento che ha portato a un danno incommensurabile per Volkswagen, saranno soggetti alle corrispondenti conseguenze.

6. Il Comitato Esecutivo ha deciso che la società presenterà spontaneamente un reclamo all’ufficio dei procuratori statali alla Brunswick. Dal punto di vista del procedimento penale del Comitato Esecutivo possono essere rilevanti a causa delle irregolarità. Le indagini della Procura di Stato saranno supportate in tutte le forme dalla parte di Volkswagen.

7. Il Comitato Esecutivo propone che il Consiglio di Sorveglianza di Volkswagen AG crei un comitato speciale, sotto la cui guida seguiranno ulteriormente passaggi chiarificatori, tra cui la preparazione delle necessarie conseguenze. A questo proposito, il Comitato speciale avrebbe fatto ricorso a consulenze esterne. Ulteriori dettagli su questo saranno decisi nel corso della riunione del Consiglio di Sorveglianza di Venerdì.

8. Il Comitato Esecutivo è consapevole del fatto che i conti con la crisi di fiducia sarà un compito a lungo termine che richiede un alto grado di coerenza e completezza.

9. Il Comitato Esecutivo lavorerà su questi compiti insieme con i dipendenti ed il Consiglio di Gestione. Volkswagen è una magnifica società che dipende dagli sforzi di centinaia di migliaia di persone. Riteniamo nostro compito che questa società riacquisti la fiducia dei nostri clienti in ogni aspetto.

 

Intervento del Prof. Dr. Winterkorn

Wolfsburg, Germania. 23 settembre 2015 – “Sono scioccato dagli eventi degli ultimi giorni. Soprattutto, sono allibito che una cattiva condotta di tali dimensioni sia stata possibile nel Gruppo Volkswagen.

In qualità di CEO mi assumo la responsabilità per le irregolarità che sono state trovate nei motori diesel e quindi ho chiesto al Consiglio di Sorveglianza di concordare il termine della mia funzione di CEO del Gruppo Volkswagen. Sto facendo questo nell’interesse della società, anche se io non sono a conoscenza di qualsiasi malefatto da parte mia.

Volkswagen ha bisogno di un nuovo inizio – anche in termini di personale. Sto aprendo la strada per questo nuovo inizio con le mie dimissioni.

Sono sempre stato guidato dal mio desiderio di servire la società, soprattutto i nostri clienti e dipendenti. Volkswagen è stato, è e sarà sempre la mia vita.

Il processo di chiarificazione e trasparenza deve continuare. Questo è l’unico modo per riconquistare la fiducia. Sono convinto che il gruppo Volkswagen e la sua squadra supereranno questa grave crisi”.

Statement from the Executive Committee of Volkswagen AG’s Supervisory Board

Wolfsburg, Germany. September 23, 2015 –In a meeting on Wednesday, September 23, the Executive Committee of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG discussed in detail the manipulation of emissions data of Volkswagen Group diesel engines and came to the following conclusions:

1. The Executive Committee takes this matter extremely seriously. The Executive Committee recognizes not only the economic damage caused, but also the loss of trust among many customers worldwide.

2. The Executive Committee agrees that these incidents need to be clarified with great conviction and that mistakes are corrected. At the same time, the Executive Committee is adamant that it will take the necessary decisive steps to ensure a credible new beginning.

3. The Executive Committee has great respect for Chairman Professor Dr. Winterkorn’s offer to resign his position and to ask that his employment agreement be terminated. The Executive Committee notes that Professor Dr. Winterkorn had no knowledge of the manipulation of emissions data. The Executive Committee has tremendous respect for his willingness to nevertheless assume responsibility and, in so doing, to send a strong signal both internally and externally. Dr. Winterkorn has made invaluable contributions to Volkswagen. The company’s rise to global company is inextricably linked to his name. The Executive Committee thanks Dr. Winterkorn for towering contributions in the past decades and for his willingness to take responsibility in this criticall phase for the company. This attitude is illustrious.

4. Recommendations for new personnel will be presented at the upcoming meeting of the Supervisory Board this Friday.

5. The Executive Committee is expecting further personnel consequences in the next days. The internal Group investigations are continuing at a high tempo. All participants in these proceedings that has resulted in unmeasurable harm for Volkswagen, will be subject to the full consequences.

6. The Executive Committee have decided that the company will voluntarily submit a complaint to the State Prosecutors’ office in Brunswick. In the view of the Executive Committee criminal proceedings may be relevant due to the irregularities. The investigations of the State Prosecutor will be supported in all form from the side of Volkswagen.

7. The Executive Committee proposes that the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG create a special committee, under whose leadership further clarifying steps will follow, including the preparation of the necessary consequences. In this regard, the Special Committee would make use of external advice. Further details about this will be decided at the Supervisory Board meeting on Friday.

8. The Executive Committee is aware that coming to terms with the crisis of trust will be a long term task that requires a high degree of consistency and thoroughness.

9. The Executive Committee will work on these tasks together with the employees and the Management Board. Volkswagen is a magnificent company that depends on the efforts of hundreds of thousands of people. We consider it our task that this company regains the trust of our customers in every respect.

Statement by Prof. Dr. Winterkorn

Wolfsburg, 23. September 2015 – “I am shocked by the events of the past few days. Above all, I am stunned that misconduct on such a scale was possible in the Volkswagen Group.

As CEO I accept responsibility for the irregularities that have been found in diesel engines and have therefore requested the Supervisory Board to agree on terminating my function as CEO of the Volkswagen Group. I am doing this in the interests of the company even though I am not aware of any wrong doing on my part.

Volkswagen needs a fresh start – also in terms of personnel. I am clearing the way for this fresh start with my resignation.

I have always been driven by my desire to serve this company, especially our customers and employees. Volkswagen has been, is and will always be my life.

The process of clarification and transparency must continue. This is the only way to win back trust. I am convinced that the Volkswagen Group and its team will overcome this grave crisis.”
