Putrajaya, Malesia. 22 novembre 2014. Sam Bird con la Virgin Racing è in cima alla classifica a Putrajaya registrando un tempo di 1m21s496s davanti a Jerome D’Ambrosio e Sebastien Buemi.
Il pilota Virgin ha fatto il miglior tempo nei minuti finali di una sessione di pratica interrotta.
Nick Heidfeld ha fatto uscire la bandiera rossa a cinque minuti dalla fine mentre finiva nella barriera di pneumatici alla curva tre.
Il driver Venturi ha distrutto l’anteriore frontale sinistro della macchina, cosa che mette la squadra sotto pressione per rimettere a posto la macchina in tempo per l’inizio della corsa. Heidfeld dovrebbe essere ancora in grado di prendere parte alle qualifica con la sua seconda macchina.
Michela Cerruti ha portato anche la sessione ad una battuta d’arresto dopo aver perso la sua ruota posteriore sinistra della vettura del team Trulli a causa di un Wheelnut sciolto.
La pratica ha ripreso con una serie di giri con i quali i piloti hanno continuato a cercare le sensazioni della pista prima delle qualifiche.
Bruno Senna ha impostato il ritmo con un tempo 1m26s332 davanti a Sebastien Buemi e Stephane Sarrazin. Cina Racing Nelson Piquet Jr inizialmente ha abbassato il punto di riferimento prima che i driver di e.dams-Renault spostassi il suo tempo nella parte superiore dello schermo. Piquet è riuscito a completare 25 giri nonostante un guasto posteriore al quadrilatero di sospensione posteriore.

Sam Bird fastest in Putrajaya practice
Putrajaya, Malesia. November 22, 2014. Sam Bird topped the timesheets for Virgin Racing in Putrajaya clocking a 1:21.496s ahead of Jerome d’Ambrosio and Sebastien Buemi.
The Virgin driver set the fastest time in the final minutes of an interrupted practice session. Nick Heidfeld brought out the red flag with five minutes remaining as he went into the tyre barrier at turn three.
The Venturi driver destroyed the left-front corner of the car which puts the team under pressure to fix the car in time for the start of the race. Heidfeld should still be able to take part in qualifying with his second car.
Michela Cerruti also brought the session to a halt after losing her left-rear wheel on the Trulli car due to a loose wheelnut. Practice restarted with a flurry of activity as the drivers continued to get a feeling of the track ahead of qualifying.
Bruno Senna set the early pace with a 1:26.332s ahead of Sebastien Buemi and Stephane Sarrazin. China Racing’s Nelson Piquet Jr initially lowered the benchmark before the two e.dams-Renault drivers moved to the top of the timing screen. Piquet managed to complete 25 laps despite a rear-wishbone failure.
