San Josè, California. USA. 27 febbraio 2017. Oggi, NIO, una società di auto di nuova generazione, ha annunciato il giro più veloce a guida autonoma sul circuito della pista delle Americhe ad Austin, Texas.

Il 23 febbraio, la NIO EP9 ha guidato in modo autonomo, senza interventi, registrando un tempo di 2m 40s33 ad una velocità massima di 160 mph.

Lo stesso giorno, la NIO EP9 ha anche battuto il tempo più veloce sul giro COTA per una vettura di serie con un pilota, registrando un tempo sul giro di 2m11.30s e raggiungendo una velocità massima di 170 mph.

La tecnologia e il software che ha permesso il giro a guida autonoma più veloce del mondo è stato sviluppato dagli ingegneri di NIO negli Stati Uniti con sede nella Silicon Valley.

Questa enorme impresa è stata compiuta dall’inizio alla fine in soli 4 mesi.

Pochi mesi fa, il 12 ottobre 2016, la NIO EP9 ha stabilito un record al Nürburgring Nordschliefe e girando nei 20,8 km dell’’inferno verde’ in 7m 05.12s, il che la rende l’auto elettrica più veloce del mondo.

Con quattro motori entrobordo ad alte prestazioni e quattro riduttori singoli, la EP9 offre 1mW di potenza, pari a 1342BHP. La EP9 accelera 0-124 mph in 7,1 secondi e raggiunge una velocità massima di 194 miglia all’ora. Con un sistema di batteria intercambiabile, EP9 è progettata per essere caricata in 45 minuti ed ha un’autonomia di 265 miglia (426 km).

San Josè, California. USA. February 27, 2017. Today, NIO, a next-generation car company, announced the fastest ever autonomous lap at the Circuit of the Americas race track in Austin, Texas. On February 23, the NIO EP9 drove autonomously, without any interventions, recording a time of 2m 40.33s (two minutes, 40.33 seconds) at a top speed of 160mph. The same day, the NIO EP9 also beat the fastest COTA lap time for a production car with a driver, achieving a lap time of 2m 11.30s (two minutes, 11.30 seconds) and reaching a top speed of 170 mph.

The technology and software which delivered the world’s fastest autonomous lap was developed by the engineers at NIO U.S. headquartered in Silicon Valley. This tremendous feat was accomplished from start to finish in just 4 months.

A few months ago, on October 12, 2016, the NIO EP9 set a record at the Nürburgring Nordschliefe and lapped the 20.8km ‘Green Hell’ in 7m 05.12s, making it the fastest electric car in the world.

With four high-performance inboard motors and four individual gearboxes, the EP9 delivers 1-MegaWatt of power, equivalent to 1342BHP. The EP9 accelerates from 0-124 mph in 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of 194 miles per hour. With an interchangeable battery system, the EP9 is designed to be charged in 45 minutes and has a range of 265 miles.
