Il quarto round del Campionato FIA di Formula E 2016/2017 si svolge a Città del Messico, nel circuito dell’Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, da poco rinnovato. Nelson Piquet Jr e Oliver Turvey saranno anche questa volta i piloti del Team NextEV NIO di Formula E.

Nelson Piquet Jr (Car #3):

Stiamo puntando a colmare il divario con i team meglio posizionati, ma crediamo che se le cose funzioneranno e condurremo una gara perfetta, saremo tra i primi tre e cercheremo di conquistare il nostro primo podio. È sempre bello avere un buon pubblico e la Formula E ha ricevuto un’accoglienza straordinaria in Messico – i fan l’anno scorso sono stati incredibili. Solo nella Formula E puoi sentire la folla che tifa, e questo la rende una gara davvero speciale.

Oliver Turvey (Car #88):

L’anno scorso ho affrontato il percorso di Città del Messico in velocità e quest’anno ho tutte le intenzioni di continuare a dare il massimo nelle qualificazioni per raggiungere le primissime posizioni e gareggiare per il gradino più alto del podio. Non vedo l’ora di correre ancora all’ Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, di fronte alla sua grande folla e nella sua fantastica atmosfera.

Gérry Hughes, Team Principal:

Il circuito di Formula E di Città del Messico unisce in modo insolito le caratteristiche di un percorso di F1 e di strada. La combinazione tra il percorso dello stadio e la presenza dei cordoli dovrebbe essere un punto di forza del telaio del team. In questa stagione abbiamo dimostrato che abbiamo un’automobile veloce e ora abbiamo bisogno di capire qual è il nostro pieno potenziale di gara e portare Nelson e Oliver sul podio. Il quarto posto del team dopo Buenos Aires è stato una grande ricompensa per tutto il team, ma abbiamo bisogno di continuare a colmare il gap per mantenerci in ascesa.

NextEV NIO Formula E Team: Mexico City ePrix – The E files

The fourth round of the 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship takes place in Mexico City, utilising part of the recently rejuvenated Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit. Nelson Piquet Jr and Oliver Turvey will once again be on driving duties for the NextEV NIO Formula E Team.

Nelson Piquet Jr (Car #3):

We are still pushing hard to close the gap to the teams at the very top, but we believe that if everything works out and we have a perfect race then we can crack the top three and try to get our first podium since season one. It’s always fun to have good crowds, and Formula E has been really well received in Mexico – the fans at last year’s race were incredible. Only in a Formula E car can you hear the crowds when they cheer, so it’s definitely a special race.

Oliver Turvey (Car #88):

I got to grips with the Mexico City track quickly last year so I will be aiming to continue our strong qualifying form this year and will be pushing to get into superpole to be in a position to race for the top step of the podium. I am looking forward to racing in front of a big crowd again and the great atmosphere at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

The Mexico City Formula E circuit is an unusual blend of F1 track and street circuit characteristics. The combination of the stadium section and the kerbs should play to the strengths of the team’s chassis. We have shown this season that we have a quick car and now we need to realise our full potential in the races and get Nelson and Oliver onto the podium. Moving up to fourth in the team’s championship after Buenos Aires was a great reward for everyone in the team, but we need to keep pushing hard to keep advancing.
