Schieramento piloti e nuova livrea svelata al primo test ufficiale

Donington Park, Gran Bretagna. 23 Agosto 2016. Il team NextEV di Formula E oggi ha annunciato il suo schieramento piloti ed ha rivelato la nuova livrea della sua vettura della stagione 2016/17, in vista del primo test ufficiale pre-campionato a Donington Park, Regno Unito, che inizia più tardi di questa mattina.

Il team è lieto di annunciare che Nelson Piquet Jr e Oliver Turvey rimangono con la squadra per il campionato FIA Formula E 2016/17. Il forte schieramento – con entrambi i piloti che estendono il loro rapporto con la squadra sulla base di un accordo multi-stagione – assicura che il Team NextEV di Formula E ha consistenza in termini di piloti per la prossima stagione. Il processo di sviluppo per la nuova vettura ha coinvolto sia Piquet Jr che Turvey, che sono stati una parte importante dei test privato pre-campionato della squadra a Calafat in Spagna.

Piquet Jr ha vinto il Campionato inaugurale piloti di Formula E a Londra nel giugno 2015 per il team di NextEV Formula E dopo aver segnato due vittorie nella stagione, a Long Beach e Mosca, e podi a Punta del Este, Buenos Aires e Monaco. E’ stato verso il finale di stagione nell’anno inaugurale della serie che Turvey ha fatto la sua prima apparizione per la squadra, imprimendo il suo debutto in Formula E con due punti sullo stretto circuito cittadino del Battersea Park. In seguito si è unito a Piquet Jr per una stagione completa con la squadra per la stagione 2015/16.

La nuova auto di Formula E del team NextEV per la stagione 2016/17 ha completato con successo 14 giorni pieni di test privati nello stretto e tortuoso circuito di Calafat in Spagna. I test si sono concentrati sullo sviluppo del nuovo propulsore NextEV 700R e sui programmi di set-up per gli impegnativi circuiti cittadini della stagione, con la macchina di sviluppo nelle mani di Piquet Jr, Turvey e Ben Hanley.

Aggiungendo ulteriore forza alla squadra, il team di Formula NextEV E ha nominato un certo numero di nuovi membri in questa stagione. Gerry Hughes rimane Capo Ingegnere di pista ed è affiancato da Paul Fickers in qualità di Chief Technical Officer (che è stato in precedenza capo del controllo dei veicoli di Fiat Group Automobiles e ha ricoperto posizioni di rilievo in Ferrari e Maserati), e Barry Mortimer come Team Manager (che si unisce dal team Aguri). Un selezionato gruppo di esperti ingegneri, tecnici, meccanici e personale di supporto si sono anche uniti alla squadra, con alcuni volti noti rimanenti dalle prime due stagioni. Riflettendo riguardo il set-up globale di NextEV, il team di Formula E comprende membri provenienti da Regno Unito, Cina, Brasile, Italia, Francia e Germania.

I piloti saranno in competizione in una macchina che per la stagione 2016/17 continua a proporre il colore verde acqua e lo schema di colore grigio in un design fresco per la prossima stagione, che dispone anche di flash delle bandiere nazionali dei rispettivi piloti. La presentazione avviene prima dell’inizio del primo test ufficiale di tre giorni del campionato elettrico, previsti tra il 23 e 25 ​​Agosto.

A seguito di test ufficiali di questa settimana, il team di Formula NextEV E tornerà a Donington Park per il secondo test ufficiale finale di pre-stagione dal 5 al 7 settembre 2016. Il campionato FIA Formula E 2016/17  prenderà il via il 9 ottobre 2016 , con la prima visita della serie a Hong Kong.

Ho imparato molto nella mia prima stagione completa ed ho messo a disposizione questa esperienza nel test estivo lavorando con la squadra sullo sviluppo della nuova vettura. La squadra ed io abbiamo altrettante elevate ambizioni per la prossima stagione e lavoreremo duramente insieme per raggiungerle. So quanta fatica hanno fatto tutti nel NextEV e quindi non vedo l’ora di iniziare a correre!”

Driver line-up and new livery unveiled at first official test

Donington Park, UK. 23rd August 2016. The NextEV Formula E Team has today announced its driver line-up and revealed the new livery for its 2016/17 challenger, ahead of the first official pre-season test at Donington Park, UK, which begins later this morning.

The team is delighted to announce that Nelson Piquet Jr and Oliver Turvey remain with the team for the 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship. The strong line-up – with both drivers extending their relationship with the team on a multi-season agreement – ensures that the NextEV Formula E Team has consistency in terms of drivers for the upcoming season. The development process for the new car has involved both Piquet Jr and Turvey, who have been a major part of the team’s private pre-season testing at Calafat in Spain.

Piquet Jr won the inaugural Formula E Drivers’ Championship in London in June 2015 for the NextEV Formula E team after scoring two race wins along the way, at Long Beach and Moscow, and podiums in Punta del Este, Buenos Aires and Monaco. It was at the season finale in the series’ maiden year that Turvey made his first appearance for the squad, impressing on his Formula E debut with two points finishes on the narrow Battersea street circuit. He subsequently joined Piquet Jr for a full season with the team for the 2015/16 season.

The NextEV Formula E Team’s new 2016/17 car has successfully completed 14 full days of private testing at the tight and twisty Calafat Circuit in Spain. Testing has focused on the development of the all-new NextEV 700R powertrain and set-up programmes for the season’s challenging street circuits, with the development car in the hands of Piquet Jr, Turvey and Ben Hanley.

Adding further strength to the outfit, the NextEV Formula E team has appointed a number of new members this season. Gerry Hughes remains Chief Race Engineer and is joined by Paul Fickers as Chief Technical Officer (who was previously Head of Vehicle Testing at Fiat Group Automobiles and has held senior positions at Ferrari and Maserati), and Barry Mortimer as Team Manager (who joins from Team Aguri). A carefully selected line-up of experienced engineers, technicians, mechanics and support staff also join the team, with some familiar faces from the first two seasons remaining. Reflecting NextEV’s global set-up, the Formula E team comprises members from the UK, China, Brazil, Italy, France and Germany.

The drivers will be competing in a 2016/17 car that continues to run the popular teal and grey colour scheme in a fresh design for the upcoming season, which also features flashes of the national flags of the respective drivers. The reveal takes place  before the start of the electric championship’s first official three-day test, running 23-25 August.

Following this week’s official test, the NextEV Formula E team will return to Donington Park for the second, and final, official pre-season test on 5-7 September 2016. The 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship will get underway on 9 October 2016, with the series’ first visit to Hong Kong

He’s a fantastic teammate and we’re working hard to achieve a strong team performance this season.”

“I am delighted to be able to continue racing for the NextEV Formula E Team. They gave me my first opportunity in the series so I am excited to continue the journey together with the team. I learnt a lot in my first full season and have taken this experience into the summer testing to work with the team on developing the new car. The team and I have similarly high ambitions for the season ahead and we will work hard together to achieve them.
