NEXTEV TCR e Motegi Racing formano una partnership tecnica per sviluppare la ruota da corsa di Formula

Long Beach, California. USA. 31 Marzo 2016. NEXTEV TCR ha annunciato oggi una partnership tecnica con Motegi Racing per lo sviluppo di una ruota da corsa per la Formula E. Ingegneri di NEXTEV TCR e Motegi Racing (un produttore di elevata qualità, costruttore ruote da corsa per auto da formula, sport e turismo) hanno lavorato insieme per produrre una ruota in lega di alluminio forgiato, progettata specificamente per la Formula E.

La nuova ruota è stata progettata per ridurre il peso non molleggiato delle vetture, mantenere la rigidità sotto sforzo nelle curve e anche migliorare le prestazioni degli pneumatici e dei freni attraverso la gestione del calore.

Gli ingegneri coinvolti nella progettazione della ruota avevano obiettivi di progetto chiari. In primo luogo, è stato quello di ridurre il peso al minimo consentito dalla normativa della serie per migliorare l’efficienza del propulsore e l’accelerazione. In secondo luogo, per ridurre il flusso d’aria che passa attraverso le ruote per aumentare la temperatura dei freni e migliorare le prestazioni degli pneumatici ad alte temperature.

I team di ingegneri hanno lavorato a stretto contatto con la Michelin (fornitore ufficiale di pneumatici per la serie) al fine di garantire livelli di pressione di montaggio degli pneumatici accettabili e per sostenere le temperature degli pneumatici necessari per massimizzare l’aderenza in curva ad alta velocità.

La ruota è basata sul design di test gara di Motegi Technomesh che ha gareggiato con successo a tutti i livelli dai GT ai prototipi da corsa. La nuova ruota sarà sperimentata per la prima volta da NEXTEV TCR al Long Beach ePrix questo fine settimana.

NEXTEV TCR has today announced a technical partnership with Motegi Racing for the development of a race wheel for Formula E.  Engineers from NEXTEV TCR and Motegi Racing (a producer of high- quality, cutting edge racing wheels for formula and sports car racing) have worked together to produce an aluminium alloy-forged wheel, designed specifically for Formula E.

The new wheel is designed to reduce the un-sprung weight of the cars, maintain superior rigidity under cornering force, and also improve tyre and brake performance through heat management.

The engineers involved in the design of the wheel had clear design objectives. Firstly, was to reduce the weight to the minimum allowed by the series regulations to improve the efficiency of the powertrain and acceleration. Secondly, was to reduce the airflow through the wheels to increase the brake temperature and improve tyre performance at high temperatures.

The engineering teams have been working closely with Michelin (the official tyre supplier to the series) to ensure acceptable tyre mounting pressure levels and to support the necessary tyre temperatures to maximise grip for high-speed cornering.

The wheel is based on the race-tested Motegi TechnomeshTM design that has been raced successfully at all levels of GT and prototype racing. The new wheel will be trialled for the first time by NEXTEV TCR at the Long Beach ePrix this weekend.
