Barcelona, Spagna. 28 Febbraio 2017. Michelin è Partner ufficiale di pneumatici della serie ‘utilizzando la piattaforma Roborace per sviluppare i propri pneumatici stradali di nuova generazione che saranno in grado di gestire le velocità ed i rigori di un nuovo tipo di guida.

I pneumatici montati sulla Robocar saranno utilizzati anche per vetture stradali da impiego quotidiano, come segnala la filosofia della serie che guarda costantemente avanti per migliorare la tecnologia dalla pista direttamente sulle nostre strade.

“Alla Michelin, siamo sempre stati impegnati nell’innovazione e l’utilizzo di eventi globali e del motorsport hanno portato i nostri prodotti ad un livello superiore, Roborace ora ci fornisce un’opportunità unica per applicare le nostre competenze e know-how nel mondo delle automobili autonome. Michelin vuole contribuire a plasmare il futuro, non essere solo una parte di esso”- ha detto Pascal Couasnon, Direttore di Michelin Motorsport.

Charge, una società di camion elettrica del Regno Unito, sta fornendo componenti chiave tra cui l’elettronica di potenza ed i motori per la Robocar, ma è anche il partner ufficiale con il camion elettrico della Formula E.

“Charge è estremamente orgogliosa del suo coinvolgimento con la serie e lo sviluppo di componenti chiave per la Robocar. E’ bello avere una piattaforma come Roborace per testare la nostra tecnologia, portarla ai limiti e applicare tali apprendimenti ai nostri autocarri che circolano su strada.” – ha dichiarato Greg Forostovsky, Direttore di Ingegneria Charge.

Fino ad oggi Roborace si è esibita nelle sue manifestazioni solo con le più funzionali vetture di ricerca e sviluppo, note come “Devbots”.

Nella loro ultima uscita, le vetture hanno eseguito una prima mondiale e Roborace è diventata la prima azienda a mettere due auto senza conducente in mostra contemporaneamente sulla pista su misura ricavata in una strada cittadina nel Buenos Aires ePrix di Formula E.

Roborace continuerà a utilizzare le DevBots per dimostrazioni e test, introducendo il Robocar in manifestazioni pubbliche durante il resto del 2017 con due Robocars a scendere in pista insieme dopo quest’anno.

I fans di Roborace sono stati in grado di seguire il progresso della serie attraverso il documentario ‘Inside Roborace’ su YouTube che offre il dietro le quinte del complicato processo di sviluppo della tecnologia driverless.

La serie ha accumulato milioni di seguaci su tutte le piattaforme sociali con un argomento che è molto alto nelle agende di notizie globali e il futuro delle nostre città.

Michelin are the series’ official tyre partner using the Roborace platform to develop their own next-generation road tyres that will be capable of handling the speeds and rigours of a new format of driving. The tyres on the Robocar will also be used for everyday road cars as the series constantly looks to advance technology from the track directly on to our streets.

Charge, an electric truck company from the UK are providing key components including the power electronics and motors for the Robocar, they are also the official electric truck partner of Formula E.

It is great to have a platform like Roborace to test our technology to the limits and apply those learnings to our electric trucks on the road.” – Greg Forostovsky, Charge Director of Engineering

To date Roborace has been performing demonstrations with its more functional looking development cars, known as “Devbots”. In their last outing, the cars performed a world first as Roborace became the first company to put two driverless cars on display simultaneously on a custom-built city street track at Formula E’s ePrix in Buenos Aires. Roborace will continue to use DevBots for demonstrations and testing, introducing the Robocar into public displays during the remainder of 2017 with two Robocars taking to the track together later this year.

Fans of Roborace have been able to follow the series’ progress through the cutting-edge ‘Inside Roborace’ documentary on YouTube which gives a behind the scenes look at the complicated development process of driverless technology. The series has amassed millions of followers across all social platforms with a topic that is very high on global news agendas and the future of our cities.
