L’ex campione del mondo di Formula 1 Jacques Villeneuve si unisce al team Venturi Formula E

Montecarlo, Monaco. 8 Agosto 2015 L’ex campione del mondo di F1 Jacques Villeneuve ha firmato con Venturi Formula-E per partecipare alla seconda stagione del FIA Formula Championship. Il canadese farà coppia con il pilota francese Stéphane Sarrazin. L’idea è nata dopo una giornata di test sul circuito di Le Castellet (Var, Francia) la settimana scorsa.

“Sono passati 10 anni da quando avevo guidato una monoposto su questo tipo di pista, ma è come andare in bicicletta, non si scorda mai. E’ stato una vera felicità. C’era una buona atmosfera con il team Venturi e uno degli ingegneri Venturi è un ragazzo con cui ho lavorato all’inizio della mia carriera. E’ stato fantastico. Ero molto eccitato e tutto è andato bene. La scorsa stagione ogni volta che ho incontrato i piloti della Formula E mi dicevano che è davvero un campionato molto interessante”.
Nel 1996, l’anno del suo arrivo in Formula 1, Villeneuve si è classificato Vice Campione del Mondo. L’espero pilota canadese è diventato campione del mondo di Formula 1 nel 1997 e ha trascorso 10 anni alla guida della più prestigiosa competizione del motorsport. Durante la sua carriera di 10 anni al vertice degli sport motoristici (con Willams, BAR, Sauber e Renault) ha portato a casa 11 vittorie e 23 volte un posto sul podio.

Villeneuve si unirà al compagno di squadra Stéphane Sarrazin che parteciperà per il secondo anno nel team Venturi di Formula E. Sarrazin continua la collaborazione con Venturi con entusiasmo e determinazione:

La presenza del versatile pilota francese che gareggia anche nel WEC e nel rally permetterà al team Venturi di capitalizzare le esperienze acquisite durante la prima stagione del campionato. La vasta conoscenza di Sarrazin della monoposto elettrica e il suo nuovo motore si riveleranno anche preziosi per la squadra Venturi.
Sarrazin è stato attivamente coinvolto nello sviluppo della nuova VM200 fornito da Automobiles Venturi attraverso diverse sessioni di test a luglio, percorrendo oltre 1.600 km.

“Il nuovo motore ha dimostrato affidabilità immediata. Possiamo dire che abbiamo un ottimo pacchetto (powertrain/motore). Non sappiamo che cosa gli altri team hanno fatto, ma siamo certi che la nostra macchina è molto efficiente”.
Il team è supportato da Venturi Automobiles, presieduto da Gildo Pastor. Come specialista di propulsori elettrici ad alte prestazioni, Venturi Automobiles fa parte dei produttori ufficiali designati dalla FIA per la seconda stagione del Campionato di Formula E. Il produttore con sede a Monaco fornirà i propri motori al team di Venturi Formula E.

I tecnici di Venturi Automobiles saranno a Donington Park (Inghilterra) per le sessioni di test ufficiali organizzati da Formula E a partire dal 10 agosto.
Agosto sarà particolarmente intenso per Venturi Automobiles. La società detiene il record mondiale di velocità FIA per i veicoli elettrici con 495 km/h (307 mph) del 2010 e tenterà di stabilire un nuovo record mondiale di velocità elettrici a partire dal 17 agosto sulle Bonneville Salt Flats (Utah, USA) con la Venturi VBB- 3, un veicolo da 3000 CV.
La seconda stagione del FIA Formula E Championship avrà inizio a Pechino il 17 ottobre. Come nella scorsa stagione, ci saranno 10 gare in tutto il mondo, Asia, Sud America, Nord America ed Europa.

Montecarlo. Monaco. August 8th, 2015. The former F1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve signed with Venturi’s Formula-E Team to participate in the FIA Formula-E season 2 Championship. He will team up with French driver Stéphane Sarrazin. The idea came just after a test day on the track in Le Castellet (Var, France) last week.

“It had been 10 years since I had driven on that kind of track with a single-seater, but it’s like riding a bike, you never forget. It was real happiness. There was a very good ambiance with the Venturi team and one of the engineers with Venturi happens to be a guy I worked with early in my career. That was great. I was very excited and everything went well. Last season each time I met drivers from Formula-E they were saying it is really a very interesting championship.”
In 1996, the year of his arrival in Formula 1, Villeneuve achieved Vice World Champion. The experienced Canadian driver went on to become a Formula 1 World Champion in 1997 and spent 10 years driving in the most prestigious motorsports competition. During his 10-year tenure at the top of motorsports (with Willams, BAR, Sauber and Renault) he took home 11 victories and placed on the podium 23 times.

Villeneuve will join teammate Stéphane Sarrazin who will participate for the second year on the Venturi Formula-E Team. Sarrazin continues the Venturi collaboration with enthusiasm and determination:

The presence of the versatile French driver who also competes in WEC and rally will allow the Venturi team to capitalize on the experiences gained during the first season of the championship. Sarrazin’s extensive knowledge of the electric single-seater and its new engine will also prove invaluable to the Venturi team.
Sarrazin was actively involved in developing the new VM200 provided by Venturi Automobiles through several test sessions throughout July. More than 1600 km have been logged.

The team is backed by Venturi Automobiles, chaired by Gildo Pastor. As a specialist of high performance electric powertrains, Venturi Automobiles is part of the official manufacturers designated by the FIA for the second season of the Formula-E Championship. The Monaco based manufacturer will supply its own engines to the Venturi Formula-E Team.

Venturi Automobiles engineers will be in Donington Park (England) for the official test sessions organized by Formula-E beginning August 10.
August will be particularly busy for Venturi Automobiles. The company holds the FIA world speed record for electric vehicles at 495 kph / 307 mph (2010) and will be attempting to establish a new electric world speed record starting August 17th on the Bonneville Salt Flats (Utah, USA) with the Venturi VBB-3 a 3000cv vehicle.
The second season of the FIA Formula-E Championship will begin in Beijing October 16th. Like last season, there will be 10 races around the world in Asia, South America, North America and Europe.
