Montecarlo, Principato di Monaco. 8 Maggio 2017. Il campionato FIA Formula E si trasferisce a Monaco, usando parte del circuito di Formula 1, famoso in tutto il mondo, per il quinto round della stagione 2016/17. Nelson Piquet Jr e Oliver Turvey saranno in azione per il team NextEV NIO Formula-e sulle strade del Principato questo sabato, 13 Maggio.
Nelson Piquet Jr (Car # 3):
“Sono contento dell’inizio della stagione europea in quanto dà al Campionato un buon momento fino alla fine. Monaco è la mia corsa di casa e ho buoni ricordi perché ho finito sul podio nel 2015 quando la Formula E ha visitato il principato l’ultima volta. Sono eccitato di tornare sul circuito – è un posto speciale. È giunto il momento di dare inizio ai buoni risultati in gara, abbiamo dimostrato di essere forti in questa stagione e abbiamo qualche reale potenziale di finire sull’alto della classifica “.
Oliver Turvey (Car # 88):
“Sono davvero entusiasta di tornare a correre a Monaco, ho dei ricordi speciali quando ho vinto nel mio debutto a Monaco nella World Series 3.5. È una pista unica, con un’atmosfera sorprendente attorno al porto. Mi sono sempre divertito a guidare così sono fiducioso di raggiungere un buon risultato per la squadra. Questa sarà la mia prima volta a guidare la Formula E a Monaco; la corsa del circuito intorno al porto è in un percorso leggermente diverso da imparare, anche se ho esperienza nelle zone della piscina e della Rascasse”.
Gérry Hughes, Principal Team:
“Non c’è nulla di simile a Monaco sul calendario per una serie di motivi. E’ certamente sempre unico nel calendario di Formula 1 e quel sentimento segue anche la Formula E, anche se su un circuito modificato rispetto al tradizionale layout del circuito di Formula 1. E’ chiaro che abbiamo un pacchetto competitivo in qualificazione e siamo ora pienamente concentrati sulla concretizzazione del nostro vero potenziale di prestazioni nella prossima gara di Monaco”.

Montecarlo, Monaco. 8th May 2017. The FIA Formula E Championship moves to Monaco, utilising part of the world-famous Formula 1 circuit, for the fifth round of the 2016/17 campaign. Nelson Piquet Jr and Oliver Turvey will be in action for the NextEV NIO Formula-e Team on the streets of the Principality this Saturday, 13 May.
Nelson Piquet Jr (Car #3):
“I’m happy that we are getting underway with the start of the European season as it gives the Championship a good momentum through until the end. Monaco is my home race and I have good memories from finishing on the podium there in 2015 when Formula E last visited. I’m excited to get back on the circuit – it’s a special place. It’s now time to kick-start the good race results as we have shown that we have good pace this season and have some real potential for strong finishes.”
Oliver Turvey (Car #88):
“I am really excited to be going back to race in Monaco, I have special memories of winning on my Monaco debut in the World Series 3.5. It’s a very unique track, with an amazing atmosphere around the harbour. I have always enjoyed driving there so I am confident of achieving a strong result for the team. This will be my first time driving the Formula E car in Monaco; the circuit races around the harbour so it will be a slightly different track to learn, although I have experience of the swimming pool and Rascasse sections of the track.”
Gérry Hughes, Team Principal:
“There is nothing comparable to Monaco on the calendar for a whole host of reasons. It has certainly always been unique on the Formula 1 calendar and that sentiment carries through to Formula E, albeit on a modified circuit to the traditional Formula 1 circuit layout. It is clear that we have a competitive package in qualifying trim and we are now fully focused on realising our true performance potential in the forthcoming race in Monaco.”
