Donington Park, Gran Bretagna. 18 Agosto 2015. Lucas di Grassi è diventato il primo pilota a registrare un tempo in 1m29s il quarto giorno di test pre-campionato a Donington Park.
Il driver Abt Schaeffler ha utilizzato la modalità di 200 kW di qualifica per registrare un tempo di 1m 29s 920 per rompere di nuovo il record della pista segnato ieri dal suo compagno di squadra Daniel Abt.
Il brasiliano è stato ben più veloce dei suoi rivali, che erano diretti dal pilota Renault e.dams ‘Sebastien Buemi.
“Devo dire che registrare il tempo non è importante quanto lavorare sulla affidabilità della vettura”, ha detto di Grassi. “Certo che lavorare sulle prestazioni è importante, ma sappiamo che le prestazioni qui non si traducono necessariamente in quello che vedremo in altri tracciati. Credo che il tempo sul giro mostra la promessa ed è bene sapere che il nostro pacchetto sta funzionando bene a 200 kW”.
Buemi ha detto:
“Ad essere onesti ci siamo concentrati su simulazioni di gara, o almeno stint con taratura a 150 kW e abbiamo imparato molte cose. Abbiamo visto che ci sono delle cose che possiamo ancora migliorare sulla macchina in termini di prestazioni e affidabilità. Confidiamo nella nostra squadra e nel nostro sistema e lavoreremo sodo per ottenere il massimo dalla macchina per il resto dei test. Chiaramente non vogliamo mostrare i nostri sviluppi, ma abbiamo anche bisogno di sperimentare che cosa siamo capaci di fare. Si tenta di giocare il gioco e vedere cosa succede. Abt è andato forte e questo è buono, ma sono fiducioso che con i nostri tecnici e meccanici possiamo fare un buon lavoro”.
Bruno Senna è stato il terzo più veloce dopo un test incoraggiante per la Mahindra Racing:
“Oggi non è andata troppo male; abbiamo provato un paio di cose e siamo rimasti soddisfatti con quello che abbiamo imparato”, ha detto. “Il nuovo pacchetto sembra buono e soprattutto è stato affidabile, anche se non siamo forse i più veloci in questo momento. La prossima settimana abbiamo bisogno di concentrarci sulla massimizzazione della nostra efficienza e sarà interessante vedere dove ognuno è nella sessione finale”.
Il vincitore della gara di GP2 Nathanael Berthon ha avuto la sua prima esperienza in una macchina di Formula E quando ha preso in pista per il Team Aguri. Il francese è stato uno dei piloti più attivi in pista, percorrendo 68 giri con la squadra che ha continuato a lavorare sul set-up della sua auto.
E’ stata un’altra giornata difficile per Andretti, anche se Simona de Silvestro è riuscita a fare un giro completo senza fermarsi. Tuttavia, non era in grado di segnare un tempo interessante e la squadra rimane sulle retrovie con il test della prossima settimana rimanente prima che le vetture vengano imballati e spedite in Cina.
Trulli si trova in una situazione simile, con nessuna delle sue vetture a scendere in pista ancora una volta. Tutte le squadre hanno un’ultima possibilità di prepararsi per il Pechino ePrix del 17 Ottobre.
La prova finale di pre-campionato si svolgerà a Donington Park il 24 e 25 agosto.

Di Grassi lowers Donington lap record

Donington Park, Gran Bretagna. 18 Agosto 2015. Lucas di Grassi became the first driver to record a time in the 1:29s on day four of pre-season testing at Donington Park.
The Abt Schaeffler driver used the 200 kW qualifying mode to post a lap of 1:29.920s to break the new lap record his team-mate Daniel Abt set yesterday. The Brazilian was well clear of his rivals, who were headed by Renault e.dams’ driver Sebastien Buemi.
“I have to say that going for the time is not as important as working on the reliability of the car,” said di Grassi. “Of course working on the performance is important, but we know that performance here doesn’t necessarily translate to what we will see at the other tracks. I think the lap time shows promise and it’s good to know that our package is running well at 200 kW.”
Buemi said:
“To be honest we focussed on race simulations or at least 150kw stints and we learned a lot of things. We feel like there are things we can still improve on the car in terms of performance and reliability. We trust our people and our system and we will work hard to get the most out of the car for the rest of testing. Clearly we don’t want to show our hand but you also need to experience what you are capable of doing. You try to play the game and see what happens. Abt look strong which is good but I’m confident with the people we have we can do a good job.”
Bruno Senna was third fastest after an encouraging test for Mahindra Racing:
“Today has gone not too bad; we tried a few things and were happy with what we learned,” he said. “The new package seems good and most of all has been reliable, although we’re perhaps not the quickest out there at the moment. Next week we need to focus on maximising our efficiency and it will be interesting to see where everyone is in the final session.”
GP2 race winner Nathanael Berthon had his first run in the Formula E car as he took to the track for Team Aguri. The Frenchman was one of the busiest drivers on track, racking up 68 laps as the team continued to work on the set-up of its car.
It was another tough day for Andretti, although Simona de Silvestro did manage to complete a full lap without stopping. However, she was unable to set a representative time and the team remains on the backfoot with just next week’s test remaining before the cars are packed up and shipped to China.
Trulli finds itself in a similar situation, with neither of its cars appearing on track once again. All the teams have one last chance to get prepared for the Beijing ePrix on October 17. The final pre-season test takes place at Donington Park on August 24 and 25.
