Combustibili HVO, BTL, GTL e CTL omologati secondo la norma prEN 15940
Ultima generazione di OM 470 e OM 471, motori Mercedes-Benz approvati per i carburanti alternativi con effetto immediato
Dall’inizio di luglio le ultime generazioni di motori di camion Mercedes-Benz OM 470 e OM 471 sono approvati per l’uso con carburanti alternativi in base alla norma prEN 15940.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks approva l’uso di carburanti alternativi secondo la normativa prEN 15940, con effetto immediato per le ultime generazioni della OM 470 (10,7 l) e del OM 471 (12,8 l). Questi includono i sottogruppi olio vegetale idrotrattato (HVO), biomassa liquida (BTL), Gas To Liquid (GTL), Coal to Liquid (CTL) che sono diverse risorse convertite in carburanti attraverso processi chimici.
La compatibilità dei combustibili secondo la norma prEN 15940 è stata dimostrata da numerosi test. I motori sono progettati come quelli standard per il nuovo tipo di carburante.
Poiché le caratteristiche dei combustibili secondo la norma prEN 15940 significa che è assolutamente paragonabile al gasolio prodotto su base di petrolio in modo convenzionale, non sono necessarie modifiche ai motori o alle loro periferiche. Il processo di iniezione, tubi del carburante e guarnizioni rimangono invariati. Lo stesso vale anche per gli intervalli del cambio dell’olio e per la pulizia del filtro antiparticolato, mentre non vi è alcuna restrizione in termini di garanzia. Le prestazioni del motore ed i dati di coppia restano le stesse, se vengono utilizzati combustibili secondo la norma prEN 15940.
Dal febbraio 2016 i camion Mercedes-Benz della prima generazione OM 470 e OM 471 motori Euro VI, nonché la serie di motori OM 936 e OM 934 hanno operato con i combustibili secondo la norma prEN 15940 (questo include anche HVO).

Latest generation of OM 470 and OM 471 engines from Mercedes-Benz approved for alternative fuels with immediate effect
From the beginning of July the latest generations of the OM 470 and OM 471 Mercedes-Benz truck engines are approved for use with alternative fuels according to norm prEN 15940.

Stuttgart, Germany. July 4th, 2016. Mercedes-Benz Trucks approves the use of alternative fuels according to norm prEN 15940 with immediate effect for the latest generations of the OM 470 (displacement 10.7 l) and of the OM 471 (displacement 12.8 l). These include the subgroups Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), Biomass To Liquid (BTL), Gas To Liquid (GTL), Coal To Liquid (CTL) which are different resources converted to fuels through chemical processes.
The compatibility of fuels according to norm prEN 15940 has been proved by numerous tests. The engines are designed as standard for the new fuel type.
Since the characteristics of fuels according to norm prEN 15940 mean that it is absolutely comparable to conventionally produced petroleum-based diesel fuel, no modifications to the engines or their peripherals are necessary. The injection process, fuel lines and seals remain unchanged. The same is also true of the intervals for oil changes and for cleaning the particulate filter, while there is no restriction in terms of warranty and goodwill policy. Engine performance and torque data also remain the same if fuels according to norm prEN 15940 are used.
Since February 2016 Mercedes-Benz trucks with the first generation OM 470 and OM 471 Euro VI engines as well as the medium-duty engine series OM 936 and OM 934 have been operating with fuels according to norm prEN 15940 (this includes also HVO).
