New alliance aims to advance hydrogen refuelling stations in Europe

Una nuova alleanza mira a promuovere le stazioni di rifornimento di idrogeno in Europa

Under the motto “Connecting the Dots,” six European operators of hydrogen refuelling stations aim to expand the infrastructure on the main European routes.

The focus is on more refuelling stations and vehicles – especially in the short term until 2028.

The members include Hydri, Teal-Mobility, Fountain Fuels, H2 Mobility, Virya Energy, and Hympulsion.

Together, they operate 92 hydrogen refuelling stations for various vehicle fleets. By 2028, an additional 39 stations are planned. This expansion corresponds to 1,800 hydrogen trucks daily.

According to a map, the planned new stations are mainly located in the western half of France, in the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as in Norway – spread across the entire length of the country.

For Germany, which already has a relatively large number of H2 stations, only three new ones are marked H2IA.

Discussions are underway with leading vehicle manufacturers on how to accelerate hydrogen mobility. The aim is to solve the well-known chicken-and-egg problem with an “ambitious but realistic pace.” The alliance compares the expansion of hydrogen mobility to the development of mobile networks in the early 2000s – where the number of transmission masts and devices also accelerated each other.
