Motorcycle racing has been going on for several years and includes different categories, similarly to what happens with the motorcycle racing powered by ICE (Internal Combustion Engine). In the early 1990s, national racing championships has been organized in the tracks of several countries and now the project is to bring a championship with electric motors under DORNA, which is the company that promotes conventional Moto GP races. There have been several edition of the Tourist Trophy with ad-hoc built electric motorcycles. As for the off-road, cross, enduro and trial bikes, several are the manufacturers involved and many championships have been launched in recent years.

Ducati unveiled some technical details of the “V21L” prototype, the MotoE first electrical motorcycle project from the Bologna-based manufacturer.
