Londra, Gran Bretagna. 13 Gennaio 2016. I dipendenti di Brompton Bicycle – produttori delle più famose biciclette pieghevole del mondo – hanno trovato il partner perfetto per il proprio classico design della società: la Nissan LEAF 100% elettrica.

La società britannica di grande successo, il cui moto è diventata un’icona di stile globale, ha iniziato ad offrire al suo personale di 230 operai nel suo quartier generale di West London il diritto di noleggio di un auto attraverso un sistema di sacrificio salario all’inizio di quest’anno.

E la Leaf, che è anche leader mondiale, viene costruita nel Regno Unito e si è dimostrata di gran lunga l’opzione più popolare, con quattro membri del team che l’hanno già presa in consegna e altri sei in attesa delle loro nuove auto all’inizio del nuovo anno.

In effetti, la Leaf, il cui costo operativo è di solo due pence per miglio e offre mobilità a emissioni zero, si è rivelata un successo e la società si aspetta ora una stazione di 10 punti di ricarica da installare nella nuova fabbrica quando si trasferirà a fine mese.

L’Amministratore Delegato, Will Butler-Adams OBE, egli stesso proprietario di Leaf, ha dichiarato:

“La squadra può scegliere qualsiasi auto che vuole attraverso il regime del sacrificio dello stipendio ma dei cinque che hanno finora usato il regime, quattro hanno optato per la Leaf.

“E’ la macchina che a tutti piace. Credo che sia perché, proprio come la nostra bicicletta, la Leaf è tutta funzione e semplicità – funziona praticamente da sola. E proprio come la nostra bici è fatta anche nel Regno Unito, che è qualcosa di cui siamo incredibilmente orgogliosi”.

Will, che ha iniziato la sua carriera di ingegneria con i posizionamenti di Nissan negli stabilimenti di Sunderland e Spagna, ha proseguito all’università:

“La Brompton e la Leaf sono compagni perfetti l’un per l’altro. Di per sé la Leaf è fantastica, ma, portare una piccola bicicletta come il Brompton nel bagagliaio è meraviglioso”.

“Noi tutti usiamo una macchina. Se io devo percorrere 80 miglia, io non ho intenzione di pedalare a meno che non lo stia facendo per divertimento durante il fine settimana. Se io vado a prendere i miei figli a scuola, non ho intenzione di andare a prendere tutti su una bici e fargli pedalare 20 miglia – è semplicemente troppo lontano per loro.

“Ma combinando la Leaf e Brompton ho il più favoloso abbinamento da pendolare al lavoro. Guido dalla mia casa vicino Maidenhead in periferia di Londra, dove posso parcheggiare tutto il giorno gratuitamente. Poi, premdo la mia Brompton e pedalo nelle ultime sette miglia lungo il Grand Union Canal. E’ glorioso”.

A Marriage Made In Heaven: The Nissan LEAF and Brompton Bike

London, UK. January 13, 2016. Employees at Brompton Bicycle – manufacturer of the world’s most famous folding bike – have found the perfect partner for the company’s own design classic: the 100% electric Nissan Leaf.

The hugely successful British company, whose bike has become a global style icon, started offering the 230 staff at its West London HQ the right to lease a car through a salary sacrifice scheme earlier this year.

And the Leaf, which is also a world leader made in the UK, has proved by far the most popular option, with four of the team already taking delivery and another six awaiting their new cars at the start of the new year.

In fact the Leaf, which costs just two pence per mile to run and offers zero emissions mobility, has proved so successful the company now expects a bank of 10 charge points to be installed at its new factory when it relocates later this month.

Chief Executive Officer, Will Butler-Adams OBE, himself a LEAF owner, said:

“The team can choose any car they want through the salary sacrifice scheme but of the five who have taken up the scheme so far, four have opted for the LEAF.

“It’s the car everyone likes the best. I guess it’s because just like our bike the LEAF is all about function and simplicity – it just works. And just like our bike it’s also made in the UK, which is something we’re incredibly proud of.”

Will, who began his engineering career with placements at Nissan in the Sunderland plant and Spain while at university, went on:

“The Brompton and the LEAF are perfect companions for each other. By itself the LEAF is fantastic but, stick a little bicycle like the Brompton in the boot and it’s awesome.

“We all use a car. If I’m going to travel 80 miles, I’m not going to pedal unless I’m doing it for fun at the weekend. If I’m going to take my children to school, I’m not going to stick them all on a bike and cycle 20 miles – it’s just too far for them.

“But by combining the LEAF and the Brompton I have the most fabulous commute to work. I drive from my home near Maidenhead to the edge of London, where I park all day for free. Then, I lift out my Brompton and cycle the last seven miles to the office along the Grand Union Canal. It’s glorious.”
