Bruxelles, Belgio. 20 Aprile 2016. La Toyota Prius è la prima vettura ad aver subito il più recente test di Euro NCAP della tecnologia di frenata d’emergenza autonoma (AEB) per i pedoni. Includendo questo test come parte della valutazione della sicurezza, Euro NCAP prende in tutto il mondo l’iniziativa di favorire l’avanzata tecnologia di prevenzione delle collisioni per tutte le vetture. Oggi è stato anche rilasciato il test della Suzuki Baleno con il primo doppio voto.

I più recenti sistemi di frenata d’emergenza autonoma non solo sono in grado di rilevare i veicoli che precedono, ma anche delle situazioni più impegnative in cui i pedoni sono a rischio di essere investiti. Frenando automaticamente la vettura, il sistema aiuta ad evitare o attenuare un incidente. Nei test di Prius, lo standard montato “Toyota Safety Sense” ha efficacemente riconosciuto i potenziali incidenti con i pedoni e le automobili ed ha aiutato la Prius a raggiungere la prima valutazione a 5 stelle nel 2016.

La Suzuki Baleno ha ricevuto 3 stelle basato su l’equipaggiamento di sicurezza standard. Suzuki offre il pacchetto sicurezza ‘Radar Brake Support’ opzionale che include un sistema AEB City ed AEB Inter Urban. Con il pacchetto in dotazione, la Baleno raggiunge 4 stelle ed è il primo veicolo ad essere valutato sotto il nuovo doppio voto.

Da quest’anno, Euro NCAP segnalerà due rating di stelle per lo stesso veicolo: per l’impostazione predefinita, un punteggio base viene generato per una vettura dotata di dispositivi di sicurezza, che sono di serie sulla gamma di modelli in tutta l’EU28. Se il costruttore chiede, un secondo voto può essere pubblicato per l’auto dotata di un ‘pacchetto sicurezza’, che è disponibile su tutte le varianti ma può essere venduto come optional o di serie in alcuni mercati. Questa duplice valutazione permette ai consumatori di comprendere facilmente il beneficio di sicurezza che può essere raggiunto dalle apparecchiature supplementari offerte per la prevenzione delle collisioni.

“L’inclusione di AEB pedoni nel punteggio è una pietra miliare nello sviluppo della sicurezza automobilistica che aiuterà la proliferazione della tecnologia della prevenzione delle collisioni in tutti i segmenti del mercato. Allo stesso tempo, fornirà informazioni precise e chiare ai consumatori circa i più recenti sistemi e quali benefici potrebbero portare, diventando sempre più impegnativo. Il doppio voto semplificherà la scelta per l’auto più sicura”, afferma il dottor Michiel van Ratingen, segretario generale Euro NCAP.

Brussels, Belgium. 20th April 2016. The Toyota Prius​ is the first car to have undergone Euro NCAP’s newest test of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) technology for pedestrians. By including this test as part of the safety rating, Euro NCAP takes the lead world-wide in encouraging advanced crash avoidance technology for all cars. Also released today is the Suzuki Baleno​ with the first dual rating.

The latest generation Autonomous Emergency Braking systems are not only able to detect vehicles ahead but also in more challenging situations where pedestrians are at risk of being run over. By braking the car automatically, the system helps to avoid or mitigate a crash. In the Prius tests, the standard fitted “Toyota Safety Sense” effectively recognised potential crashes with pedestrians and cars and has helped the Prius achieve the first 5 star rating in 2016.

The Suzuki Baleno received 3 stars based on the standard safety equipment. Suzuki offers the optional safety pack ‘Radar Brake Support’ which includes an AEB City and AEB Inter-Urban system. With the pack included, the Baleno achieves 4 stars and is the first vehicle to be assessed under the new dual rating.

From this year, Euro NCAP allows two star ratings for the same vehicle: by default, a base rating is generated for a car equipped with safety equipment which is standard on the model range throughout EU28. If the manufacturer wishes, a second rating may be published for the car fitted with a ‘safety pack’ which is available on all variants but may be sold as option or standard in some markets. This dual rating allows consumers to easily understand the safety benefit which can be achieved by the additional crash avoidance equipment offered.

At the same time, to provide accurate and clear information to consumers about the latest systems and what benefit they might bring, is becoming more challenging. The dual rating will simplify the choice for the safest car”, says Dr Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP Secretary General.
