Il Campione della Formula Renault 3.5 Champion, Oliver Rowland correrà per Mahindra Racing

Nick Heidfeld sarà assente al Punta del Este ePrix dopo un piccolo intervento chirurgico nella mano

4 Dicembre 2015. Il Campione di Formula Renault 3.5 Oliver Rowland sostituirà Nick Heidfeld nel terzo appuntamento del FIA Formula E Championship a Punta del Este, in Uruguay. Il 23enne pilota britannico sarà compagno di squadra di Bruno Senna, mentre Nick Heidfeld si recupera dalla chirurgia minore nella mano a seguito di un infortunio subito durante il Putrajaya ePrix.

Nick Heidfeld ha dichiarato:

“Durante il Putrajaya ePrix, ho danneggiato un legamento del mio polso sinistro quando il volante scattò dalla mia mano. Su consiglio dei miei medici, ho subito un’operazione per rimetterlo a posto. Purtroppo questo significa che mancherò alla prossima gara a Punta del Este, ma vorrei che la squadra faccia bene e la speranza che tornino dall’Uruguay con una calza di Natale piena di punti”.

Rowland, che ha stabilito un nuovo record di otto vittorie nel Campionato di Formula Renault 3.5 2015 entrerà a far parte del Mahindra Racing di Formula E per una sessione nel simulatore prima di partire per l’Uruguay per l’ePrix. Lui prenderà anche parte ai test ufficiali di Formula E in seguito al Punta del Este ePrix per continuare lo sviluppo della vettura da corsa M2Electro di Mahindra.

Oliver Rowland ha detto:

“Dopo un anno di successo, sono entusiasta di avere l’opportunità di estendere la mia stagione ulteriormente e correre con la M2Electro. Formula E rappresenta molti aspetti del futuro dei motori e ha guadagnato enorme attenzione nella prima stagione. Ha uno dei più competitivi pacchetti e non vedo l’ora di essere in corsa in mezzo a loro e spero di dimostrare quello che posso fare. Sarà una curva di apprendimento ripida per arrivare a capire la nuova tecnologia elettrica da corsa, ma sono sicuro che una volta che la visiera scende, sarà divertente. Ho intenzione di sfruttare al massimo questa opportunità e trarre il massimo dalla vettura. Grazie a Mahindra Racing per l’opportunità e desidero a Nick Heidfeld un recupero rapido”.

Nick Heidfeld to miss the Punta del Este ePrix following minor hand surgery

December 4, 2015. Formula Renault 3.5 Champion Oliver Rowland has been announced to replace Nick Heidfeld for the third round of the FIA Formula E Championship in Punta del Este, Uruguay. The 23 year old British driver will partner Bruno Senna at the team while Nick Heidfeld recovers from minor hand surgery following an injury sustained during the Putrajaya ePrix.

Nick Heidfeld said:

“During the Putrajaya ePrix, I damaged a ligament in my left wrist when the steering wheel snapped out of my hand. On the advice of my doctors, I have undergone an operation to repair it. Unfortunately this means that I will miss the next race in Punta del Este but I wish the team well and hope they return from Uruguay with a Christmas stocking full of points”.

Rowland, who set a new record of eight wins in the 2015 Formula Renault 3.5 Series season will join the Mahindra Racing Formula E Team for a simulator session before travelling to Uruguay for the ePrix. He will also take part in the official Formula E test following the Punta del Este ePrix to continue the development of the Mahindra Racing M2Electro racing car.

Oliver Rowland said:

“After a successful year, I am excited to have this opportunity to extend my season further and race the M2Electro. Formula E represents many aspects of the future of motorsport and it gained huge traction in the first season. It has one of the most competitive driver line-ups and I am looking forward to some close racing among them and I hope to show what I can do. It will be a steep learning curve to get to grips with the new electric racing technology but I’m sure that once the visor goes down, we will have some fun.
