Long Beach, California. USA. 9 Aprile 2015.

Long Beach, California. USA. April 9th, 2015. The growing popularity of Formula E is not only evident from the large numbers attending the ePrix – a crowd of around 60,000 watched the two races in North America – or those watching on TV – an average of over 16 million viewers per event – but it’s also clear from the quality of the brands keen to be linked to this first single-seater championship that relies on an entirely electric power unit.

Long Beach was the venue for the first appearance of the red of AVIS, the company having signed a long-term partnership agreement with the Mahindra Racing team: the logo of one of the best know hire-car companies in the world appeared as from last weekend on the Indian team’s cars and in its garage.

The Californian ePrix also marked the debut of a new livery for the China Racing team, which saw it change from being predominantly red to grey with yellow flashes, highlighting the logo of Nextev, one of the eight constructors that are candidates to supply electric power units for the cars as from next season.

Judging from the result of the Long Beach ePrix, these changes seemed to bring good luck to the Brazilians in both those teams: Nelson Piquet Jr. took his and China Racing’s first win, while finishing fifth means Bruno Senna equaled his and Mahindra Racing’s best result, secured in Buenos Aires, the same place that team-mate Karun Chandhok finished in Beijing.
