Berthon: “Devi usare il cervello”

Donington Park, Gran Bretagna. 21 Agosto 2015. Nathanael Berthon ha descritto la guida di una vettura di Formula E con la potenza piena di 200 kW ‘come il Natale’ dopo aver fatto il suo primo assaggio dell’auto elettrica da corsa a Donington Park all’inizio di questa settimana.
Il vincitore della GP2 ha trascorso un giorno intero con il Team Aguri, eseguendo un programma di test esteso nella penultima uscita prima che le vetture vengano spedite in Cina per il Pechino ePrix del 17 Ottobre. Dopo aver trascorso la maggior parte del test in modalità gara da 150 kW, nella mezz’ora finale al francese gli è stata data la possibilità di provare la potenza piena di 200kW che viene usata in qualifica.
“Quando hai fatto tutti i giri a 150 e dopo fai un giro a 200 è come il Natale!”, Ha detto. “Sono molto felice per la mia giornata. Prima di tutto vorrei dire grazie mille al Team Aguri per avermi dato l’opportunità di provare la serie. Ho fatto un passo alla volta, come se stesi iniziando di nuovo perché è tutto completamente nuovo e ci sono molte cose da capire. Volevo aiutare la squadra a sviluppare un po’ l’auto e mi auguro di averlo fatto. Per me è stata una giornata davvero buona”.
Berthon è stato uno dei membri della Formula E driver club – un pool di piloti che hanno registrato un interesse per le corse del campionato in vista della prima stagione – e rimane molto desideroso di trovare un sedile da titolare nella serie.
“Sono molto interessato a questa serie per molte ragioni”, ha confermato. “E’ una serie in cui si deve usare il cervello: molta strategia, molte cose a cui pensare per aiutare la squadra anche a sviluppare la vettura e anche dal punto di vista della guida. Oggi ho imparato molto e sono sicuro che se avessi fatto più test sarebbe meglio. E’ davvero interessante e voglio usare il mio cervello questa volta!”
I test riprendono a Donington Park il 24 Agosto.

Donington Park, United Kingdom. August 21st, 2015. Nathanael Berthon has described driving a Formula E car on full 200 kW power as ‘like Christmas’ after having his first taste of the all-electric race at Donington Park earlier this week.
The GP2 race winner spent a full day with Team Aguri, running an extended test programme in the penultimate outing before the cars are shipped off to China for the Beijing ePrix on October 17. After spending the majority of the test running at 150kw race mode, in the final half hour the Frenchman was given the chance to try full, 200kw qualifying power.
“When you do all the laps at 150, when you do one lap at 200 it’s like Christmas!” he said. “I’m very happy about my day. First of all I would like to say thanks a lot to Team Aguri for letting have the opportunity to try the series. I just took it step by step like if I was starting again because it’s completely new, you have a lot of stuff to understand. I wanted to help the team to develop a little bit and I hope I did. For me it was a really good day.”
Berthon was one of the members of the Formula E drivers club – a pool of drivers who registered an interest in racing in the championship ahead of season one – and he remains very keen to find a race seat in the series.
“I’m really interested in this series for many reasons”, he confirmed. “It’s a series where you have to use your brain: a lot of strategy, a lot of things to think about to help the team as well to develop the car and also from a driving point of view. Today I have learnt a lot and I’m sure if I did more tests it would be better and better. It’s really interesting and I want to use my brain this time!”
Testing resumes at Donington Park on August 24.
