Donington Park, Gran Bretagna. 19 agosto 2015. Nicolas Lapierre crede che la vettura di Formula E presenta una sfida divertente per estrarre il massimo in corsa dopo aver provato durante un intero giorno per il Team Aguri nella prova di Donington di questa settimana.
Lapierre – che insieme a Alex Premat del Team France ha vinto il titolo inaugurale di A1GP – ha effettuato oltre tre distanze di gara lavorando attraverso un ricco programma di test per la squadra che gli ha aperto la possibilità di correre la macchina nella seconda stagione.
“E ‘stato molto speciale, ovviamente molto diverso da qualsiasi altra cosa” – ha detto. “Il primo giro quando sono uscito dai box, senza alcun rumore, mi sentivo molto strano. Ma alla fine è stata una buona esperienza, ci sono stati molti nuovi parametri che ho dovuto imparare come gli pneumatici universali e l’energia elettrica la cui coppia è molto diversa, quindi ci ho messo un po’ di tempo per abituarmi alla macchina ma alla fine me la sono goduta e mi sono davvero divertito”.
Il vincitore della classe LMP2 di quest’anno a Le Mans ha avuto anche l’opportunità di provare la vettura il team Aguri – che gestisce lo stesso powertrain della prima stagione – in modalità qualifica.
“Passare da 150 kW a 200 kW per le qualifiche, e avendo solo due giri a questo livello di potenza, significa che è necessario abituarsi ad esso molto rapidamente”, ha osservato. “La macchina non è facile – in termini di tempo sul giro non è più veloce di quello che ho guidato prima, ma è complicato andare veloce”.

Donington Park, England. August 19, 2015. Nicolas Lapierre believes the Formula E car presents an enjoyable challenge to extract the most from after having a full day’s running for Team Aguri in this week’s Donington test.
Lapierre – who together with Alex Premat took Team France to the inaugural A1GP title – completed more than three race distances as he worked through a packed testing schedule for the team and he is open to the possibility of racing the car in season two.
“It was very special, very different to anything else obviously,” he said. “The first lap when I went out of the pits without any noise, it felt very strange. But in the end it was a good experience, there were many new parameters I had to learn like the all-weather tyres and the electric power with the torque is very different, so it took me a bit of time to get used to the car but in the end I had good fun and I really enjoyed it.”
The winner of this year’s LMP2 class at Le Mans also had the opportunity to try the Team Aguri – which runs the same powertrain as in season one – in qualifying mode.
“Switching from 150kw to 200kw for qualifying, and only having two laps at this level of power, means you need to get used to it very quickly,” he noted. “The car is not easy – in terms of lap time it’s not faster than what I’ve driven before, but it’s complicated to go fast.”
Pre-season testing continues at Donington Park on August 24.
