Città del Messico, Messico. 4 Marzo 2016. Dopo aver vinto il Buenos Aires ePrix, DS Virgin Racing è determinata a ripetere l’impresa e si preparano a correre sul circuito da 2,092 km dell’Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, pista nel cuore di Città del Messico il 12 marzo.
Dopo la prima vittoria della stagione, DS Virgin Racing è pronto ad affrontare la sua prossima sfida sul circuito di Formula E correndo a Città del Messico. Sarà la prima volta che la Formula E correrà in quella parte del mondo, così mentre ci sono alcune incognite prima di entrare nel weekend, il team è entusiasta di essere in una nuova posizione e di conseguenza è ben preparato e fiducioso dopo aver vinto l’ultima gara. Dopo aver segnato la pole e condurre dall’inizio alla fine a Buenos Aires, Sam Bird sarà alla ricerca di altrettanto forte delle prestazioni di consolidare la sua posizione tra i primi tre della classifica piloti e migliorare ulteriormente il posizionamento della squadra nella classifica costruttori.
“Mi sento molto in vista nel Messico”, dice Bird in vista del weekend di gara. “Sono andato a Buenos Aires con fiducia perché conoscevo la pista, ovviamente, non ho questo lusso in Messico, ma sono fiducioso della squadra e della macchina e avrò l’obiettivo di competere per la vittoria ancora una volta. So che i due piloti davanti a me in classifica sono di talento e sarà una buona lotta, ma almeno posso dire che si tratta di una battaglia nella quale ci sono anch’io”.
Vincere a Buenos Aires ha avvicinato Bird a 24 punti dal brasiliano Lucas di Grassi e 28 dal pilota svizzero Sébastien Buemi.
Situato nel cuore di Città del Messico, la storica pista Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez combinerà il meglio del vecchio e del nuovo. Con 18 giri e una lunghezza di 2,092 km pista questa pista è una versione breve e dolce della pista nella quale la Formula 1 ha corso lo scorso anno. Destinata ad essere una delle gare più memorabili della stagione, il Città del Messico ePrix avrà posti a sedere per circa 40.000 appassionati locali.
Il pilota francese Jean-Eric Vergne punta anche ad una forte posizione durante il Città del Messico ePrix:
“Non vedo l’ora di correre in Messico, mi sento bene come non mai così come mi sarebbe piaciuto essere nelle ultime gare, quindi darò il mio meglio durante tutto questo evento per ottenere un buon risultato. Sono anche molto contento di essere in Messico, so che l’area dove andiamo è fantastica e l’atmosfera dello stadio sarà sorprendente, ho corso a Città del Messico prima ed i fan sono grandi”.
Il team di DS Virgin Racing ha fatto grandi miglioramenti dall’inizio della stagione II.
“La giornata di test a Punta del Este ha innescato una grande quantità di miglioramento”, spiega il Team Principal Alex Tai. “Abbiamo migliorato diversi aspetti della DSV-01 e siamo particolarmente soddisfatti del nuovo software che il team ha sviluppato per Buenos Aires che ha aiutato i piloti a gestire la loro energia in modo più efficiente”, continua. “Tuttavia, rimarremo realistici, ambiziosi ma realistici. Credo che continueremo a migliorare. Il Buenos Aires ePrix ha dimostrato che siamo in grado di sconvolgere la classifica così la nostra prossima sfida è la coerenza. La nostra ambizione è quella di essere sul podio in ogni gara da qui alla fine della stagione”.

DS Virgin Racing plan to repeat the feat in Mexico City

Mexico City, Mexico. 4th March 2016. After winning the Buenos Aires ePrix, DS Virgin Racing is determined to repeat the feat as they prepare to race on the 2.092km Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez track in the heart of Mexico City on 12th March.
After its first win of the season, DS Virgin Racing is ready to face its next challenge on the Formula E circuit by racing in Mexico City. It will be the very first time that Formula E will race in that part of the world, so whilst there are a few unknowns going into the weekend, the team is excited to be in a new location and is well prepared and confident as a result of winning the last race. After setting pole and leading from start to finish in Buenos Aires, Sam Bird will be looking for a similarly strong performance to consolidate his position within top three of the driver’s standings and further improve the team’s positioning in the manufacturer standings.
“I am feeling great ahead of Mexico,” says Bird ahead of the race weekend. “I went into Buenos Aires with confidence because I knew the track, obviously I don’t have that luxury with Mexico but I’m confident with the team and the car and I’ll be aiming to compete for victory again. I know the two drivers in front of me in the standings are talented and they will put up a good fight but at least I can say that it’s a fight I’m in.”
Winning in Buenos Aires put Bird within 24 points of Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi and 28 of Swiss driver Sébastien Buemi.
Situated in the heart of Mexico City, the historic Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez track will combine the best of old and new. With 18 turns and a track length of 2.092km this track is a short and sweet version of the track that Formula 1 raced last year. Set to be one of the most memorable races of the season so far, the Mexico City ePrix will have seating of around 40,000 for local fans.
French driver Jean-Eric Vergne is also aiming for a strong position during the Mexico City ePrix:
“I’m looking forward to Mexico, I feel like I haven’t done as well as I might have liked the past few races so I am going to give my everything during this event to get a good result. I am also really pleased to be heading to Mexico, I know the area we are going to, it’s fantastic and the stadium atmosphere will be amazing, I’ve raced in Mexico City before and the fans are great.”
The DS Virgin Racing team has made big improvements since the start of Season II.
“The test day in Punta del Este has triggered a great deal of improvement,” explains Team Principal Alex Tai. “We have improved several aspects of DSV-01 and we are particularly pleased with the new software the team developed for Buenos Aires that has helped the drivers manage their energy more efficiently,” he continues. “However, we will remain realistic, ambitious but realistic. I believe we will continue to improve. The Buenos Aires ePrix has shown that we are capable of upsetting the leaderboard so our next challenge is consistency. Our ambition is to be on the podium every race between now and the end of the season.”
