DS Virgin Racing cercherà di concludere il 2015 in stile, quando il FIA Formula E Championship ritornerà in Uruguay il prossimo fine settimana.

Punta del Este, in Uruguay. 11 dicembre 2015. Dopo aver ottenuto il primo podio della squadra della stagione 2015-16 del FIA Formula E Championship nel corso di una gara ricca di eventi a Putrajaya, Malesia, il mese scorso, Sam Bird sarà alla ricerca di un’altra buona performance per le strade di Punta del Este, al fine a consolidare la sua posizione nella top 3 della classifica di campionato piloti.

Per il compagno di squadra Jean-Eric Vergne, Punta riporterà alcuni bei ricordi – era qui dove il francese ha fatto il suo debutto in Formula E la scorsa stagione, dove ha fatto l’assalto alla pole position prima che la sua gara finisse quasi subito.

Per celebrare il periodo che precede le festività natalizie, la livrea della vettura DSV-01 avrà uno speciale make-over natalizio. Le immagini di Holly e Bellie Branson, grafico unico di ogni vettura ‘flying lady’ saranno adornate con l’agrifoglio e le campane per una sola gara.

Il Punta del Este Street Circuit è uno dei più riconoscibili sul calendario di Formula E. Spesso soprannominato il St. Tropez del Sud America, il circuito dispone di 20 curve che si snodano attorno allo spettacolare porto della città.

Parlando prima della gara in Uruguay, Bird ha detto:

“Dopo la Malesia tutta la squadra è in alto, quindi abbiamo bisogno di usare quell’energia e incanalarla in un’altra performance positiva a Punta. Siamo in un buon posto, ma c’è ancora molto che possiamo migliorare con la vettura, che ci dà molto ottimismo per affrontare il weekend. Non ho avuto un gran giorno in Uruguay lo scorso anno, ma è un circuito che tutti i driver godono e quindi spero che possiamo concludere l’anno al top”.

In vista del suo ritorno a Punta del Este, Jean-Eric Vergne, ha detto:

“E ‘bello per me personalmente di tornare a una pista che ha dei bei ricordi dall’anno scorso. Spero che possa usare questa esperienza per difendere il marchio e la squadra, e dare loro un regalo di Natale anticipato dopo la gara”.

Il Team Principal del DS Virgin Racing Team Principal, ha dichiarato:

“Non vediamo l’ora di tornare a Punta, che è sempre una grande gara per concludere l’anno. Ci vorrà un grande sforzo di tutta la squadra per ottenere il risultato che abbiamo fatto in Malesia e dovremo mostrare lo stesso livello di desiderio e determinazione per avere successo in Uruguay”.

DS Virgin Racing will be looking to round off 2015 in style, when the FIA Formula E Championship returns to Uruguay next weekend.

Punta del Este, Uruguay. 11th December 2015. After securing the team’s first podium finish of the 2015-16 FIA Formula E season during an eventful race in Putrajaya, Malaysia, last month, Sam Bird will be looking for another strong performance on the streets of Punta del Este in order to consolidate his position within the top 3 of the driver championship standings.

For team-mate Jean-Éric Vergne, Punta will bring back some fond memories – it was here where the Frenchman made his Formula E debut last season, storming to pole position before his race was ultimately cut short.

To celebrate the run-up to the holiday season, the DSV-01 car livery will be given a special festive make-over. Named after Holly and Bellie Branson, each car’s unique ‘flying lady’ graphic will be adorned with Christmas holly and bells for one-race only.

The Punta del Este Street Circuit is one of the most recognisable on the Formula E calendar. Often dubbed the St. Tropez of South America, the circuit features 20 turns as it snakes around the city’s spectacular harbour.

Speaking ahead of the race in Uruguay, Bird said:

“After Malaysia the whole team was on a high, so we need to use that energy and channel it into another positive performance in Punta. We’re in a good place but there’s still a lot that we can improve on with the car too, which gives us plenty of optimism going into the weekend. I didn’t have the best of times in Uruguay last year, but it’s a circuit that all of the drivers enjoy and so I’m hoping we can round off the year on a high.”

Ahead of his return to Punta del Este, Jean-Éric Vergne, said:

“It’s nice for me personally to come back to a track that has some good memories from last year. I’m hoping I can use that experience to get off the mark for the team, and give them an early Christmas present in the process.”

DS Virgin Racing Team Principal, Alex Tai, said:

“We can’t wait to come back to Punta, which is always a great race to round off the year. It took a huge effort from the entire team to get the result that we did in Malaysia and we will need to show the same level of desire and determination to succeed in Uruguay.”
