Stefano Coletti: “L’obiettivo è quello di correre la prossima stagione”

Donington Park, Gran Bretagna. 1° Settembre 2015. Stefano Coletti ha gareggiato in una serie di categorie monoposto comprese GP2 e, più recentemente, IndyCar. Dopo la sua uscita di prova con il Team Aguri a Donington Park la scorsa settimana, sarà Coletti presto ad aggiungersi all’elenco di piloti di Formula E?

 

Come hai avuto la possibilità di fare i test con il Team Aguri?

«Beh, io conosco i ragazzi abbastanza bene, sono a Monaco e possiedono un simulatore nel Principato di Monaco. L’ho usato per fare tutto il mio lavore nel simulatore per la GP2, quindi conosco i ragazzi in quanto lavoro con loro da circa tre o quattro anni. Quando ho sentito parlare di una possibilità di provare la Formula E sono saltato sulla sedia. E’ stato come dire, ‘hey perché non mi dai un’opportunità?”

 

Hai molta esperienza in una serie di categorie di monoposto, quanto è diversa la Formula E?

“E’ completamente diversa da tutto ciò che ho guidato fino ad ora. Le vetture sono più pesanti e con meno potenza, quindi vanno guidate in modo diverso. Non si può fermare la macchina, girare e ripartire come in una vettura di GP2 perché in quella ci sono 620bhp. Qui bisogna mantenere il maggior moto possibile per tutto il tempo e mantenere la velocità in curva. Lo stile di guida è completamente diverso e ci vuole sicuramente un pò di tempo per abituarsi”.

 

Il circuito di Donington Park non è necessariamente rappresentativo rispetto i circuiti cittadini delle città che visitiamo, come pensi che si guidi l’auto in condizioni diverse?

“E’ una vettura davvero divertente da guidare, è una strana sensazione quando si guida e non si può paragonare a nient’altro. Si percorrono le curve a velocità elevate, non si deve frenare troppo duramente e bisogna far scorrere l’auto in ogni curva. Deve essere divertente per le strade in mezzo ai muri. Quando c’è un rischio maggiore, la velocità diventa più alta!”

 

Ci sono delle possibilità di correre nella categoria?

“Stiamo lavorando in questo senso ed è questo l’obiettivo. Voglio cercare di essere qui per la prossima stagione e spero che il mio desiderio diventi realtà”.

Donington Park, United Kingdom. September 1^st, 2015. Stefano Coletti has competed in a number of single-seater categories including GP2 and more recently IndyCar. Following his test outing with Team Aguri at Donington Park last week, will Coletti soon be adding Formula E to his list?

How did the opportunity to test with Team Aguri come about?

“Well I know the guys pretty well, they are from Monaco and they own a simulator in Monaco. I used to do all my simulator work for GP2 over there, so I know the guys since like three or four years. When I heard about a chance at Formula E I jumped in. I was like, ‘hey why don’t you give me a ride?’”

You have a lot of experience across a number of single-seater categories, how does Formula E differ?

“It’s completely different from anything I have been driving till now. The cars are heavier and with less power so it’s a different way of driving. You can’t stop the car, rotate and go like in a GP2 car because you have 620bhp. Here it’s more about keeping the momentum all the time and keeping the speed into the corners. The driving style is completely different and it certainly takes some time to get used to.”

The circuit around Donington Park isn’t necessarily representative to the city street circuits we visit, how do you think the car will handle in different conditions?

“It’s a really fun car to drive, it’s a strange feeling when you drive it as you can’t compare it to anything else. You carry a lot of speed into the corners, you don’t want to brake too hard and make it roll into the corner. It must be fun on the streets in the middle of the walls. When there’s risk involved the speed gets higher!”

Is it something that appeals to you, to join the series?

“We are working on it, that’s the goal. I want to try to be here for this coming season and I hope it’s going to happen.”
