Las Vegas, USA. 3 Gennaio 2016. Il team NextEV NIO di Formula E farà tappa a Sin City – Las Vegas, Stati Uniti d’America, il 7 Gennaio 2017, dove Nelson Piquet Jr, Oliver Turvey e Petar Brljak saranno in competizione nel virtual Visa Vegas eRace, che fa parte del CES. Questo evento innovativo vedrà tutti i 20 piloti di Formula E competere praticamente su simulatori di guida e in un testa a testa con dieci piloti sim d’elite – i migliori del mondo della disciplina dei games da corsa.

Il pilota sim professionista croato Petar Brljak è stato accoppiato con il NextEV NIO Formula E Team per la Las Vegas eRace e si unirà a Piquet Jr e Turvey a competere per una quota del montepremi complessivo di 1 milione di dollari – il più grande montepremi nella storia dell’eGaming.

Il giorno della gara avrà il formato di un normale evento di Formula E con due sessioni di prove libere, qualifiche e Super Pole.

I primi dieci piloti della qualificazione si qualificheranno automaticamente per la gara. Gli altri 20 concorrenti si sfideranno in una gara di qualificazione, con i top ten che poi parteciperanno alla corsa finale, che sarà caratterizzata da 20 finalisti.

I concorrenti potranno gareggiare su una pista a Las Vegas appositamente messa a punto che sarà invisibile dai piloti fino all’evento.

Nelson Piquet Jr. (automobile n° 3):

“Questa è un’idea sorprendente e un fantastico nuovo concetto ed io sono molto eccitato. Credo che sia brillante quanto la Formula E sta facendo per unire i mondi dei piloti reali e virtuali e portare un così grande premio in denaro agli eSports. Io amo l’America, credo che sia il luogo ideale per la eRace e credo che questo sta per essere davvero divertente, con tutti i piloti insieme. Ho fatto un po’ di formazione sim, ma questi piloti sim professionali saranno concorrenti duri! “

Oliver Turvey (automobile n° 88):

“Sono davvero entusiasta di andare a Las Vegas per la eRace. E’ il primo del genere in tutto il mondo e sta per essere davvero competitiva tra tutti i piloti. Sarà la mia prima volta a Las Vegas e penso che sarà un evento divertente. Sono sempre fiducioso e sento di avere molta esperienza da fare nel lavoro sul simulatore, quindi spero di fare i conti bene ed essere competitivo”.

Petar Brljak (automobile n° 68):

“C’è stato un grande sorriso sulla mia faccia quando sono uscito dall’ultima curva della gara di Londra e mi rese conto che sarei stato in finale a Las Vegas. Ero subito molto eccitato e non riuscivo a dormire da tutta l’adrenalina che avevo raccolto prima, durante e dopo quella gara perché era probabilmente la più importante dove ho guidato. Non potevo immaginare una cosa del genere appena un anno fa nelle corse sim. La possibilità di andare a Las Vegas, competere con piloti reali e tutti insieme per un grande premio, ed è molto bello essere uniti con una squadra vincitrice del campionato come la NextEV NIO Formula E Team. Sono solo in estasi!”

NextEV NIO Formula E Team: Las Vegas Virtual eRace Preview

Las Vegas, USA. 3 January 2016. The NextEV NIO Formula E Team will be heading to Sin City – Las Vegas, USA – on 7 January 2017 where Nelson Piquet Jr, Oliver Turvey and Petar Brljak will be competing in the virtual Visa Vegas eRace, which forms part of CES. This ground-breaking event will see all 20 Formula E drivers competing virtually on racing simulators and going head-to-head with ten elite sim racers – the best in the world at the discipline of race gaming.

Croatian professional sim racer Petar Brljak has been paired with the NextEV NIO Formula E Team for the Las Vegas eRace and will join Piquet Jr and Turvey to compete for a share of a $1 million prize pot – the largest prize fund in eGaming history.

The race day will take the format of a usual Formula E event with two free practice sessions, qualifying and Super Pole. The top ten drivers from qualifying will automatically qualify for the race. The other 20 competitors will battle it out in a qualifying race, with the top ten also then progressing to the final race, which will feature 20 finalists. Competitors will race on a specially devised Vegas track that will be unseen by the drivers until the event.

Nelson Piquet Jr (Car #3):

“This is an amazing idea and a fantastic new concept and I’m so excited. I think it’s brilliant what Formula E is doing combining the worlds of real and virtual racers and bringing such a big prize money to eSports. I love America, I think it’s the perfect place for the eRace and I think this is going to be really fun with all the drivers together. I’ve been doing a little bit of sim training but these professional sim racers are going to be tough competitors!”

Oliver Turvey (Car #88):

“I’m really excited to be going to Las Vegas for the eRace. It’s the first one like this in the world and it’s going to be really competitive between all the drivers. It will be my first time in Las Vegas and I think it’s going to be a fun event. I’m always confident and I feel I have a lot of experience doing simulator work so hopefully I can get to grips with it well and be competitive there.”

Petar Brljak (Car #68):

“There was a big smile on my face as I exited the last corner of the London race and realised that I would be in the final in Las Vegas. I was immediately very excited and couldn’t sleep from all the adrenaline that had gathered up before, during and after that race because it was probably the most important one that I’ve driven. You couldn’t imagine something like this just a year ago for sim racing. A chance to go to Las Vegas, compete with real drivers and all for a big prize, and it’s very cool to be joined up with a championship-winning team like the NextEV NIO Formula E Team. I’m just ecstatic!”
